Check the contacts between the handvac part and the stick broom part sometimes they get bent. If those are fine then you have some kind of short in the switch or the wiring.

Weird noise when running - belt?

Hi there,

We are sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your DC16. Based on the description you provided, your machine may have a blockage or your filters may need to be cleaned. Washing the pre-motor and post-motor filters for your DC16 Handheld every 3 to 6 months is an important step toward ensuring that your machine continues to function properly.

To locate the pre-motor filter:

Remove the machine from the charger

Remove the clear bin and cyclone assembly by pressing the button on the top of cyclone assembly then separate the cyclone from the main body of the machine

The post-motor filter is located underneath the vents on top of the main body assembly just above the handle. Lift up on the small lip at the edge of these vents.

Wash both filters, including the white and blue plastic scrim, in cold water (no soap)

Leave the filters to dry at room temperature for 24 hours or more

When placing the filters back into your machine locate the small plastic "pin" that sticks out just beneath the black motor cover in the main body of the machine.

Be sure to position the pin in the small hole on the blue plastic portion of the scrim and the blue sponge will face away from the motor cover.

If following the steps above does not resolve the problem, please contact us directly, 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 0800 298 0298 (UK), so we can provide further assistance.

Best wishes,

Jessica

My handle for my kirby vacuum cleaner is stuck in the down position (all the way on the floor) and I cannot raise it up. I'm afraid if I attempt to force it, I will break something. My son was...

Your handle lock is mostly likely stuck. I had the same thing happen to me. I tried to see if there was any videos that could help me but, there was none. Well, I notice that metal bar was sticking out at one end. So I place a flat screwdrew or in my case crowbar with that flat in one side, I placed that side of end that metal thing stick out and just hammer back inside. That's it.

My new Hoover Wind Tunnel Upright UH50000 will not turn off unless I unplug it.

First I would be sure the handle was properly installed. Remove the two screws holding the upper handle in place and tap it bacwards to remove it. Set the switch inside to the OFF position. Next set both buttons on the handle to the OFF position and re-install the upper handle. If the switch still does not turn the vacuum on and off, the switch will need replacement.

When the dyson is turned on the suction goes to the wand when you tip the beater down you do not have as much suction you cant pick up lint.

The Dyson system is designed to operate the hose with the handle in the upright position. When the head is tipped down (floor vacuum position) it closes the opening to the hose/wand

The brush will not rotate. I thought this was a direct drive system.

Note: The brush will not rotate when the machine is locked in the upright position, because an internal micro-switch turns the brush motor off.

- Check the belt through the clear brush cover. If this appears damaged or broken, please take your machine to a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center to have this replaced. If the belt is intact, please continue checking the following:
- Ensure both power switches are turned on when you check for brush rotation.
- Unplug the power cord and remove the handle completely. Slide handle back into the lower section of handle, ensuring the screw is in tight. If the handle is not aligned properly, this will affect the power of the brush motor.
- Look for debris wrapped around the brush (i.e. string, hair, fibers, etc.). When the machine is unplugged, cut away any visible hair, fibers or debris from the brush roller. This brush is NOT removable from the machine.
- If something has become lodged in the foot and the brush shuts off, turn off the vacuum and unplug this from the outlet. You can now remove the obstruction. The brush will automatically reset when the vacuum is plugged in and turned back on.

If you continue to experience difficulty with this, please take your machine to the following Service Center in your area. The warranty on this machine is five years.

Placing the handle of my Dyson DC07 into its upright and locked position causes the beater bar to stop turning. It will not start turning until the handle is first lowered to the working position and the...

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

The brush control is designed to switch the brush bar off automatically when you stand the machine back into the upright position. It is designed this way to protect any delicate floor surfaces when you have the machine switched on and upright and when you are using the hose.

If the brush control should be in the centre position and move forward to the "on" position when you release the head. If it is not doing this, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

Vacuum will not shut off

Sounds like you have wires crossed at the switch. The 2 wires coming in go to the center posts, 2 to the power head & 2 to the main motor.

Motor goes on and off briefly at regular intervals

Sounds like you may have a bad or loose connection, could be one of wires in the hose to the handle harness or the harness itself may be causing the problem. Also be the motor or relay causing a problem.

No Power coming thru hose handle

It probably wouldn't help, it sounds like the switch. Have you tried pushing the reset button? (It's a little red button on the end of the power nozzle.)
