You will need to take the recoil assembly off the saw and wind the cord springer tighter around the pully as needed to take up the slack. There should be a notch in the pully you place the rope in and turn the pully in the direction needed to wind the spring tighter a turn or two. Then take the rope out of the notch and the slack will be taken up by the spring.

How to fix the pull cord on a dcx 5000 chainsaw

Take the recoil starter assembly off the saw. Inside you should see the knot where the rope broke off. Thead the rope through the same hole and tie a new knot. Now you need to wind up the spring tension. So turn the pulley the way it would turn if the rope was turning it. The saws I have wind up the spring clockwise when viewed from the inside of the housing. If you do not feel any spring tension that spring has popped out of the housing or the pully and must put back in.If you do feel tension there should be a notch in the edge of the pulley to place the rope into as you wind up the spring. If you release the pulley and the rope is firmly taken up (no slack) you are done. If you do not get almost the full lenght of the rope to pullout you wound it too tight. Trial and error will get you there

Hood latch inside the rodeo will not release hood. what is the best way to get the hood up?

is it at the handle which pulls the chord?
Can you get to the chord under the dash?
If it is there, then use vise grips to pull it to open it - it may also help having a second set of hands to pull the hood up when pulling the chord...
Otherwise you may be able to get under the vehicle - otherwise I'm not too clear on why it isn't operating..

I broke the pull cord on my generator; how do I

you should remove the housing usually 4 bolts
dont remove anything else then look at the pully and remove the old chord tie a knot in the new chord and slot it into the hole on the pulley
you should then see a notch in the edge of the pulley this is for the chord to sit in while you turn the pully enough times to tension the recoil spring once tensioned enough so that it recoils all the chord slot the chord through the hole in the outer casing through the pull hande and knot it job done then refit
