A friend of mine has Verizon cell service which she uses with a Samsung Galaxy S3 cell phone that she purchased at the Verizon Store about 10 months ago. She has received lots of good news through her voicemail and rather than discarding them or deleting them she has continued to save them. The voicemail box has now reached its capacity and no one can any longer leave a voicemail. This has been quite a frustration for her vast array of friends, to say nothing of her business associates. What she would like to do is to take the saved voicemails from the full voicemail mail box and copy them to a pc so that they can be saved in a pc compatible audio format so that she might be able to eventually develop a playlist of good news if you will. Once this is done she is more that willing to delete voicemails and reclaim the empty voicemails. I have tried simply playing them through the headphone jack and trying to audio capture the sounds and inputting them through the microphone jack and using a sound blaster compatible program to record the voice. But the recording makes the voice very indistinct and muddled. Any ideas on your part would be appreciated.
I will prefer to use virtual phone numbers in such case where we can easily make international calls using our internet connection. https://callhippo.com/virtual-phone-number
The messages are stored on Verizon hardware (and maybe by some other organizations that keep tabs on everyone). Contact Verizon and ask if they could give you a recording. They may want payment for the service.

I can sympathize with your dilemma however there is not much you can do make changes to an individual voicemail account if it's part of a centralized voicemail and administration system that Nortel offers to commercial customers.
Although there are changes that can be made to the system as a whole you have to realize that the system has many options available that only appeal to commercial customers. Such as forwarding to an assigned alternate in your absence, identifying groups for bulk voicemail delivery and a variety of other notification options. As to whether or not you can make changes to an individual account without affecting the entire system that can only be answered by the party responsible for setting up your e-mail accounts.
I am unsure exactly what voice messaging system you have in place but I believe that some of the issues you are having are because of the the commercial nature of the service the Nortel provides.
If this is a non-commercial system then you will still need to make changes to the system with Nortel or the voicemail service provider.
Although this is not part of your question I feel that it is important to point out the way in which you stated that you handle your voice mails. Although I can understand the need to respond to issues relating to the office/job, I would hate to see you get hurt while dealing with a frustrating voicemail system. Especially so close to turkey day.
You are a valued customer of Fixya and as such we wish only the best for you and yours. So please be careful when driving and dealing with cell phone calls and voicemails.
The only other possible option other then changing your voicemail provider is to use a stand alone voicemail service provider for your number only. However this would this will mean an additional monthly fee for the service.
I hope something here helps. If you need anything cleared up or their is something else more specific you would like to ask please let me know.
Below are a couple of links to stand alone voicemail service.
