Do the lines appear in the same location on all images? Please clean the glass with isopropyl alcohol.IF the lines are crisp and sharp at the edges on all levels of contrast, then it is module problem. If it varies depending upon the contrast chosen and is also with jaggered edges, it is dust stuck on the glass. Dont use solvents.

I have a line that runs down the center of all the documents I scan. What can I do?

On your scanner, there is something (dust?) that is blocking that part of the scanner from scanning that column on the scanned document. Clean the scanning-head.

Scanning with line in the middle of documents

Please clean the glass with isopropyl alcohol, dont use solvents. It must be dust sticking on to the glass surface.

Canon DR-2050C Scanner gets verticle line down image

I have the same issue with mine and there are 2 image sensors on this scanner. 1 in the back that you will see when you open the front that has a meteal shield covering the top half, and one in the fold out front that faces the inside. These are the "glass" sections everyone is refering to. Problem is, they are plexiglass, not glass and mine has a tiny scratch in the lens that is causing the line. This could be your problem. find the lens and use a LED flashlight to inspect your lens for scratches. If its scratched like mine, the entire module has to be replaced to fix it. The canon part number is MH7-7038 and they range from $125-$160 if you replace it yourself. The one in the front is easy to do, but the back one is a little tricky. Hope this helps. E. Dr-2050c multi-page document stops scanning after one or a few pages, inconsistently. Feed lever is down in the multi-page position. Feeder tries to separate the pages: sometimes it succeeds. Document...

If the scanner is scanning but stops after a few pages either it could be because of a) There is insufficient disk space (you need to delete unwanted files or direct the comp to store whre there is space) or b) the rubber rollers are not able to separate pages and feed the papers for scanning.(You need to change the rollers)

Line going down page

Don't know if this is a solution per se but I replaced the glass bar (there is a part # on it) on the inside front of the scanner and still got a line. Then I played around with the back scanner glass and still got a line then I got in there real good and cleaned and when I scanned something it would show no lines until I saved the document then I got two lines. Thought it was my software going haywire but I did not give up, got some canned air and alcohol and cleaned the glass once again and blew out every part I could find and the problem resolved itself. Apparently the smallest piece of lint or dust, smudge or anything foreign on the scanner lenses will cause this line. But I love this scanner and I wasn't willing to give it up or pay $600 for a new one. Only had it a little more than a year. Persistence seems to be the key but check those little scanner bars and be careful, they are tricky to get out.

Duplex Scanning

If the line appears in the same location, it is definitely dust sticking to the glass. How thick is it? If it is thick, it may be because of an LED failed to glow, but this is etremely rare. If you are getting line in Duplex mode and not in simplex mode, it is on the second scanning module! Try cleaning with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). If you have been scanning old documents which tend to break like biscuit or get powdery, a speck can enter into the scanning area and create trouble.
