I have a Canon A2200 camera and when I plug it into my laptop, I get a "usb not recognized" pop-up. This is a recent development as I have used the camera many times before with this computer. I have reinstalled all of the software that came with the camera but it makes no difference. The only thing that has changed, don't know if it has any effect at all, is that I plugged in a charger for my ecig a few times and something seemed to change from that point on. Maybe it's my imagination but that's when it seems to have started. When I first plug in the cable from the camera the computer recognizes it and then when I click on the storage icon the represents the camera, it goes away and I get the pop-up. What do you suggest?

SOURCE: Where is port to connect USB cable?

I'm sorry you're having trouble with this. I have put together a picture that shows where the mini-USB plug is supposed to be attached to the camera. I hope it helps. This picture actually shows plugging the AV cable into the receptical, but right behind it is the mini-USB port. This is where you connect the USB cable. It looks like you have to lift the flap on the corner to reveal the plugs.

SOURCE: Canon Not recongized by Computer

Try to change the USB connection type in the camera menu. There are several types like Mass storage, Pict. bridge, and the one you need is most likely PTP. Anyway, try all of those and maybe it will work. That is the most common problem when connecting cameras to Vista based systems.

I too have the same problem. But I have been able to use a MAC to download the photos which recognizes the camera. This is very frustrating for me!

SOURCE: Computer not recognizing my camera when connected

Most of the issues can be solved by either reinstalling the software or by disconnecting and reconnecting the device.
In this case we can close in on three solutions
1) The USB drive in the system is not functioning. Try connecting any other USB devices to the same USB port and check whether it works or not. If the other device works well then it could be a problem with the data cable or with the port in the camera (usually firewire)

2) The data cable used to transfer data might have become faulty.Try using another data cable if possible and still the same issue continues then try connecting another camera to the system and if the other camera gets detected then the problem must be with the camera.

3) Try connecting the same camera to another system and see whether the camera gets detected. If no, then the port in the camera is defective.

After this we can close in on which could be faulty. data cable / Computer / Camera.

SOURCE: USB device not recognized

Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2009/01/how-do-i-download-photos-or-pictures.html

My Canon Powershot A2200 giving white screen and closing automatically?

Question edited for clarity.

It sounds like the battery is flat or not holding a charge. Remove it and test the voltage with a multimeter. It should be 3.6 volts.

I have A2200 cannon powershot camera but the flash is not working

You can Google your camera make/model and open the link to download your user manual in a PDF. I did this and picked the one below. Under the Table of Contents, pick Turning off the flash. The instructions to turn it on are there as well.
Hope this helps. Mike

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.
