All the above cant help for what is slowing the system is not temp file clogging but running short of ram to handle the incoming queries for the paging file is grown huge, so consider refreshing your windows or a fresh installation for even reducing the pagefile size wont help once at that state of procession.

Win 7 needs at least 3 gb of memory. Run a chkdsk. Then get a free disk defragger from cnet site. Do a defrag of disk and see if your machine runs faster. Another problem can be a virus slowing your computer.

I would also recommend using Krojam Cleaner - it keeps my laptop running fast.

My laptop getting slow and slow.. how do i reformat my computer??

Just get an Operating System CD/DVD, you want to format with, place it in your CD/DVD drive and make a computer reboot. When the computer will restart, during the pre-booting process, it will show "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD". Now press any key to start the formatting process (But before that, be sure, you have CD/DVD boot option ON in the BIOS settings).
Now follow the on-screen instructions. That's all.

For more details how to format Windows 7 from CD/DVD, read this section: http://howtoformatacomputer.com/format-windows-7

If you are willing to format Windows 7 from USB Drives, you may want to read this section: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/

NOTE: If booting from CD/DVD is disabled in your BIOS and you don't know how to enable it, please let us know by commenting over this reply.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay

Tuneup utilities prefetch data deleted windows 7 slow

Basically, the prefetcher is a Windows component that speeds up the boot process and start times of programs by prefetching data.

I recommend you never delete the prefetch data.

If you or another program delete prefetch data or the folder, this can slow the computer down until the prefetch data is rebuilt. Windows rebuilds this each time on reboot and during program start ups.

If you are using a cleanup utility, turn off any options that delete prefetch data. In CCleaner, this option is unchecked automatically. TuneUp 10 does not have an option for prefetch data and does not seem to delete this data. You may receive a message when using the program that states, "prefetch data deleted" which is informing you the prefetch is empty.

Fix a slow computer....

check the recent programmes installed, they might be complicating your system. Also the processor could be smaller. Amount of Data stored also can cause the problem. If there is no improvement, back up your data and have the windows installed fresh using xp sp 2

Performance is very slow of Dell Inspiron N4020 with Win7 OS. Please help me out.

Hi there,

Did you get this laptop with the Windows 7 installed or you upgraded from a lower version to Windows 7?

Windows 7 requires a huge amount of RAM (memory) and a good compatible video card. (because of the aero feature). If you don't meet the recommended system requriements, there is a big possiblity that your system will slow down.

If you have a good hardware and it is still slow, check your computer for possible virus infection or any application that consumes system resources. (e.g. Antivirus Software when running a full scan)

Hope this helps.

Why is my OS is very very slow working???

Here's a few tips you can try to fix your slow startup problem. First of all you want to disable any programs that are in the startup menu that you do not absolutely need. There is no sense in waiting for programs to load that you don't use on a regular basis. Or if you are not sure which one is slowing your startup. You can disable them one at a time.

If that did not help, you can disable your Windows sidebar. You'll also want to remove any icons from your desktop that you do not absolutely need. The same goes for your task bar and quick start menu. All of these will slow down your boot time.

Check to make sure your anti virus program is not scanning at startup. Some programs are set to scan. When windows boots, by default. You will also want to do a full anti virus scan to make sure you don't have a worm or any other type of virus that is working in the background slowing your operations down.

The biggest reason for a slow boot time is a corrupt or damaged Registry. The registry will become corrupted from installing and uninstalling programs. Perhaps you have loaded programs onto your new Vista computer and were not compatible and then uninstall them. They leave behind files, which Windows tries to reference on startup. Since they are no longer on your computer. Your system goes through a long search trying to find them. You need to clean and optimize your Windows registry to eliminate any bad or orphaned files.

You can do this manually if you are an experienced computer technician. It is not recommended for most users. Windows does not have a built-in tool for repairing, cleaning, or optimizing your registry. You will need to download and run a third-party registry repair program to do this.

A good piece of software that will do this for you with a click of the mouse is a wise investment for any computer. You will have it for years to come, and can schedule it to do weekly maintenance. This will keep your PC fully optimize and running fast. It's like giving your computer a tuneup.

My computer is really slow going into differnt sites....the compressor fan is slow to start up...had my computer stripped down and tuned up, but it's still slow...they said the cpu is showing its age,...

Your computer going slow could be for the following reasons: 1 Not enough RAM - remove unwanted files by cleaning the disc. Also defragment the computer. Increase the RAM 2 Virus - remove the virus 3 If you do the above you will see the improvement and no need to have a new cpu
