I read through the issues others were having with their 54501 NOT collecting water, but I still have no solution to this problem. I cleaned the filter, but I am not sure how to check if there might be a problem with the fan. The issue started with the unit being noisy. It was still collecting water, so I didn't worry about it. However, it is no longer collecting water, and I used to dump the bucket every other day. It does run from time to time, but it collects nothing! Is there something I can check to troubleshoot the issue??? I have the same problem! How convienant the warranty was up 2 weeks ago.

Hi,
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier willnot work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrongwith their dehumidifier
No, it may mean that you don't have the humidity extraction level set low enough. The lower the setting, the more humidity it will extract. Try setting the extraction level at 35%, to see if the compressor turns ON.
If yours is being used in a basement, the ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees. Dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures (Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to where the air
temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor, onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this problem.
I hope this helps you further troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In
a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your
compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?
