reset resolution to a lower setting try 1024x768 if that doesn't work try reinstalling windows as long as the same issue is not present in the dos start up screen then its windows based

I have an acer aspire one series ZG5 that wont boot up in windows? what do i do?

Somehow the BOIS password has been enabled. If you dont know this password then you going to prob have to take to a computer shop unless you know how to access the motherboard and remove the cmos battery and short the terminals for 10 seconds. this will erase the memeory and reset the bois to default which doesnt require a password.

I need a motherboard for an acer 8.9" netbook,

Also a few people selling fully working ZG5's for in the mid $40 range... might as well try to just buy a newish one on ebay.
There is one listed with a broken screen for $46, even if the screen is busted the motherboard should be intact.

I cleaned the keyboard with a toothbrush and when i power on the laptop the screen is blank. the hardware indicator just blink and power indicator's color is amber. (acer aspire pentium t4500)

If the toothbrush was dry. Your Keyboard may be damaged and would need to be replaced. Get model info and find one on EBay for $25.00.

My aspire one zg5 screen has moved to the left

i assume that when you start the machine you are getting the correct screen (Acer preboot screen) if that is working, then you should check the resolution, simple way is to start the computer in VGAmode, press F8 while starting the computer and select the VGA mode, this will start the computer in 800*600 resolution. then change the screen resolution to the 1024*600. this should fix the issue.

Where can I find a Acer One Series ZG5 replacement screen?

Do you have the exact model number for it? If its the one i believe you are referring to their are many of them available on the net for about 100$ I believe its a 8.9" screen.

Power lite is on, screen is black.

This seems to be a common issue with this model. If it is still under warranty send it back to acer. If not you can try this fix at http://eric.chromick.com/aa1/aspire-one-black-screen-of-death/

Will not hurt it anymore than it is.

You should contact Acer. They know they have a display problen with the Acer Aspire One that can be fixed with a BIOS upgrade. We got our done. They sent us a USB thumb drive with the files and instructions on how to boot the thumb drive. After a couple of minutes the Acer restarted and all is fine.
