This may sound drastic but, grab the lens and try manualy realigning. If you hear a grinding noise the lens assembly has to be replaced. Flat rate from sony is usually pretty reasonable. Hope this helps.

Lense stuck out and can't take pictures

In all probabilities, the lens barrel must have tilted, preventing the lens from retracting into the barrel. It could also be possible that some dust particles got stuck in between the segments of the lens barrel. Check for these. Try to straighten the barrel without using much force, and try to remove any dust particle that got stuck between the segments.

Camera lens stuck

We dropped our Samsung s730 (twice!) and got the lens jammed slightly sideways. I read a blog somewhere about this and just did what she said- If it is stuck out and obviously jammed sideways, push on the lens the way it should sit. I had to press really hard, but it snapped back into place and now works fine!

This WILL NOT work if: The lens retracts normally and goes back out normally, or it is not OBVIOUSLY stuck slightly askew. Sadly, with cameras this low in price about the only option is to replace it as repairs would cost more than a replacement.

In the future I plan on getting a squaretrade.com damage warranty on ALL my small 'droppable' electronics, it is pretty inexpensive (usually the same price as 'store brand' extended warranties that only cover defects).

Camera lens stuck

this occured to me whilst using my Sony P200, took it appart and found the lens motor had basically jumped its gears and jammed, the only solution was to replace the lense section (as motor & gears were built in) as no other part was damaged but to do that it would be at least £70 and the camera had dropped value to £160 and i could get a better camera for that amount...so my advice get a new one. and sell the remains on eBay.

Dropped my camera canon sd450

The E18 error is fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 50% of lens errors, but they're worth a try:

My Canon Powershot SD400 won't turn on and lense won't go back in

Unfortunately the lens assemblies in these compact digital cameras are quite delicate. The drop probably knocked the barrels of the lens out of alignment preventing it from moving. You can try to GENTLY twist the lens back and forth, you may be able to click it back into alignment allowing it to function normally. If the gentle manipulation fails to fix the problem you will need to get the camera serviced by a professional. There are quality repair services on the web who will work on your camera.
