Won't light my traeger smoker will not light. the pellets keep going into the hopper but no smoke to start

You need to replace the element inside the smoker!

Use White Lithium Grease from a spray can. Blow into the shaft side of bearing.

I had the same problem; I talked to Traeger talked to their rep and he walked me through fixing the problem. There are two wires leading from the temperature probe, these lead back to the thermostat digital controller. With the unit unplugged, unscrew the two screws holding the temperature controller in place. Slowly and carefully pull out, and check that both wires are running into the controller. If either is disconnected, strip a little more wire off the loosened wire, put back in hole and tighten the wire back down. That was the trick for my grill. Reassemble and reconnect power and test it out.
