It's your carburetor. You'll have to clean it out, rebuild it, or buy a new one. The float pin is getting stuck so it's either the float or dirt inside. Make sure you turn the gas off after each use of your generator or it will eventually happen if there's dirt in the tank. Don't forget to change out the oil before you start it again or you'll have fireworks.

What causes generator not to turn on?

Much times there is an oil level protection activated between the motor ignition.
Or the oil level is to low or its damaged (little change but ?) disconnect it only for a short test period only after controlling when there is realy enough oil insite.
tankfilter nozzle float chamber airfilter , sparkplug , ignition coil , electric field. electronic voltage regulator , a cilinder valve problem and many more . on/off switch dirth .....

I have a DeWalt DG6000 generator. When I turn on the gas pet cock valve gas runs out of the carbuerator. What could be the problem/s?

Most likely that's your problem. There's probably dirt holding the float pin open. You might want to tap it with a screwdriver to see if it seats or shake the generator a bit. If that doesn't work you'll have to remove the carburetor, take out the float bowl and manually check the inside for dirt or grime. It could also be the float if its cracked or filling with gas. Best thing to do is just rebuild the carb or get one online. You can get one for under $100. Also make sure that your fuel tank doesn't have dirt in it or it will keep happening. This problem also causes gas to seep all the way into the crank case oil if the gas valve isn't turned to the off position after using the generator.

Runs for awhile shuts down and will restart but will run awhile and shut down

Check your oil, you have a low oil sensor on your unit and if the low oil sensor will shut the engine down,

Won't start, checked spark plug, turned engine switch on, checked fuel line.

make sure unit has oil.some of them have low oil switch which will not let it run or start usually if it has triggered the low oil switch to open you have to reset it manually by pushing it in.also check that you have turned on the fuel .

Gas and oil squierts out of carberatoer

Your crank case breather is probably clogged. Remove the valve cover, don't damage the gasket. Clean out the gunk with carb. cleaner. Also clean out the hose between valve cover and carburetor.

If you have a "lot" of oil / fuel being blown out of the carb, then you may also have an intake valve that is not closing like it should.

Cease wont pull over

hi , take out the spark plugs and try pulling over the generator , if this works then you may have a stuck valve or a broken rocker arm ,if it dosent then you may have a broken crank , a broken conrod or a seized piston , also check your oil as mixing synthetic oils and normal oils can cause them to set like tar in a gas powered generator , to actually repair it if it has a broken rocker etc you really need to know how to adjust valves/timings /clearances etc , its not really a job for a novice
hope this helps
