Question about Apple iPod touch

My itouch won't connect with my wireless network in my home. I have a Netgear router. My ITouch has been working (connecting) for over 6 monts without any problems. Nothing has been changed. All other devices connected to network work: i.e. MAC's, dell, Wii, xbox360. It shows my network, shows safari, shows bars but it says: unabel to join the network and I have to press Dimiss to go back. It looks like it's trying to connect a check mark will appear and disappear randomly next to the network name. HELP

    I already have a signal, it just won't connect. My router doesn't think the device is on. I tried turning off and on and resetting the ITouch, it still says unable to join network. Also, (sorry not very techie) but I don't see any label on my router that says WEP, where would I type it in anyway? Again, the itouch shows my router, signal, safari logo, etc.. but when press to connect it won't. When I logon to my router to connect the Itouch from my computer, it shows the itouch, but it says the device is not turned on.
    Any other suggestions?

    It's working now THANK YOU! It was showing my network to join but when I tapped to join, it said unable to connect without giving me an option for password.

    I tried your orginial soultion again, pressing renew license, at same time on my computer adding device to network, still didn't work, tried again and it started working. It was frustrating because it wouldn't get to where I could enter my passcode, it would only let me press a dismiss key. Bottom line THANK YOU - you're the BEST!

I would turn your itouch on and tap the top bar where the battery and signal show.
a screen will pop down and show your wireless connection. tap it ans check your settings.
make sure you renew lease on your wireless and use the wep code which is on the label of your wireless router.
you should have signal now

    can you give me your router model.
    also on your settings menu on your touch it shows your network, if you tap the network name will it pop up with the settings?
    normally what will happen is if it sees a network it will join it and if the network is secure then it will ask for a password/passcode. that passcode is your wireless router security key.
    once you type in the security code the router will give the device access to the network.

    turn your router over and look for a label. or brand and model or something on it

Itouch can't see my network
Not that I am aware of , but you signal strength will degrade if all the devices are on and using at once. Also your ISP MAY "throttle" your service/signal with high data usage. That said, Your iTouch and xBox, in the setting , wireless, the iTouch should see the signal, Is the wireless turned on? It's discoverable? If your wirell has a Password, has a setup box on the iTouch asked for the password? Use the Manuals for the devices to troubleshoot connections.

My wifi network is on but my itouch isnt seeing it why is that
check your itouch to see if you see the router.
Follow these instruction to set up wifi device.
.Log into router
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the ITouch up in the router by WEP/WPA KEY or MAC address.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.

This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.

This happened to me as well. Turned out the iPod touch doesn't support WEP encryption properly, and sometimes can't log onto those networks.

If your network is WEP-encrypted, try changing it to WPA.

Hi,


Follow the steps below to configure settings:

1. Open a browser on a computer connected to the router.
2. Access the router using http://www.routerlogin.com or http://192.168.1.1
3. Username is admin and password is password
4. Click on Wireless settings in the left hand side menu.
5. Under security option select WEP and in key1 type 9876543210 click Apply.


Scan for the wireless network on the Itouch and connect to the network using the password as set above.

ITouch won't connect to internet
I FIXED MINE THIS MORNING!!!

try this! If your iTouch says you are connected to your network but you can't surf and you've been able to connect in the past...you have to reset your network connections on your iTouch.

Go to Settings
Go to General
Go down to Reset
Go to Reset Network Settings
It will ask for your iTouch Passcode...enter it
Then, hit the red "Reset Network Settings"
After that, go back to "Wi-Fi" in Settings...
...and connect to your network again. It might ask you for your WEP password, if it does, enter it.
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS fields should now have entries in them.
Surf Away!!

Wifi connection & itouch
I finally discovered the problem. I have a Linksys wireless
router, so when I tried to log on with my iTouch, I got the
message "Unable to join network "my network name" when
I typed in my password. One day, after many trys, I tried
typing in the network security key for my router, and Voila,
it worked. For some unknown reason (to me), the iTouch
recognizes the the network security key as the password.

Apple ipod itouch connection to wireless internet
It's since the touch doesn't officially support WPA PSK and only supports WPA2. What will work is WEP and although it is less secure very few people will bother cracking your network. If you continue to have problems with your secured connection try putting the hex key instead of the passphrase (you set hello as your password the hex would something like 0X34Hg65) it is usually displayed just beneath the password you set.

Hit "Forget this Network", go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network. Worked for me.

Are you sure you are entereing the correct passphrase, or is it a network key (usually entered in Hexadecimal). Is your Netgear router set up to use WEP or WPA or equivalient security?
