We have a Kenmore (Whirlpool) gas range displaying an E2 F2 error code. The code comes up anytime, whether we are using the range or not. We've been able to cancel it out and use the oven in the past, but now it returns almost immediately and the oven won't fire. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the oven itself - it holds temperature and bakes well - when we can get around the code - so it seems to bean electronic issue. Service guy has been here three times with no success - looked for a faulty connection but mostly seemed baffled, saying that particular error code "does not exist." If it is the ERC on this seven-year old range, is it worth fixing or should we put that money toward a new range (maybe not a Kenmore)!
As you are aware the technical manual for your range doesn't show an error code of E2 F2 but all of the F2 codes pertain to the touchpad of the range. Can you clear the E2 F3 by pressing the cancel button? If not, shut off the power to the range for a few minutes and see if the error code goes away. If the error code remains You should unplug the range from the wall and remove the back panel for the control area. Disconnect the ribbon between the touchpad and the electronic control, clean the end of it and reconnect it. If this doesn't repair the problem you will need to replace the touchpad on the range. The parts diagram lists two touchpads, they are part numbers 8273575- bisque, and 8272702- white.
E2 relates to an overheating condition. Quite possibly related to your touchpad issue. I'd try cleaning the contacts and if that doesn't work...Up to you at that point!
Beware, the new touchpad may not be compatible with the old control panel.Sears wont tell you that.Parts will end up costing you about $500.00 .Buy a new oven.

Here a list of Whirpool oven fault codes. The codes had been collected from different service manuals. This was a memo that I wrote for my own use. I think this can be useful to owners and technicians.
WHIRLPOOL - most models Range/Stove and Oven Fault Codes, Common error codes.
F1 - Analog control board Failure Disconnect for one minute - if error comes back, replace control board F1 - Shorted control keypad Replace keypad F3 - Oven temperature sensor open Replace oven temperature probe F2 - Oven temperature sensor shorted Replace oven temperature probe F3 - Oven too hot Replace oven temperature probe F3 - Clean temperature too hot Replace oven probe F5 - Door latch switch fault Test and replace the door switch.

F2 - Oven temperature above specifications Check 8-pin connector from temp. probe to Electronic Oven Control F3 - Open oven temperature probe failure Check wiring, replace oven probe if necessary F4 - Shorted oven temperature sensor failure Check wiring harness, replace oven temperature probe if necessary F5 - Push button stuck or faulty Check for binding of pushbuttons and control panel glass. If OK, replace touch panel F6 - Electronic control logic error (timing) Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC) F7 - Electronic control logic error (lock motor) Replace ERC. F8 - Electronic control logic error Replace ERC.
Some Washer ranges are equipped with electronic displays that indicate the time of day and the oven's temperature when it's in use. The display also alerts users to error codes including PF, or power failure, and various letter and number combinations that correspond to issues ranging from electronic control malfunctions to problems with the oven door latch. F2 Faults
Washer F2 faults relate to temperature problems in the oven. In the case of the error E2-F3, F2 is the general fault code and E2 is the specific error code. An E0-F2 error indicates that the oven's temperature sensor is open; E1-F2, that the temperature sensor is shorted; E2-F3, that the oven temperature has exceeded the maximum rated 575 degrees Fahrenheit in "Cook" mode; and E2-F3, that the oven temperature has exceeded the maximum rated 950 degrees Fahrenheit in "Clean" mode.
Clear Error Code
If your oven display shows a letter/number combination, washer advises clearing the display. Press "UPPER OFF" or "LOWER OFF" on double oven models. On single oven models, press "OFF/CANCEL" to clear the display. If the code reappears, the manufacturer recommends contacting a professional service technician or contacting the Washer producer
Professional Service
The Tech Sheet included with Whirlpool ovens is meant for use by professional technicians servicing the unit. To address an E2 F3 error, a technician can check the oven's temperature sensor connection, measure the sensor's resistance and, if necessary, replace the sensor.
Are you sure about this error? The 91136669891 was made by Whirlpool for the Kenmore line. The 4 character codes for these ranges are F# E# (not two Fs).
Depending on which error you are actually have see below.
Hi, Error Code F2 An F2 error code indicates a failed connection with the keypad. Ensure that the connection between the keypad and control board is tight, and press the "Cancel" key. Wait one minute to see if the error code returns. If it does, the keypad is defective and needs replacing.
Error Code F3 F3 error codes are triggered by problems with the oven temperature sensor. You cannot tell whether the sensor has shorted out or has simply failed to generate a reading if your Whirlpool range only displays two-digit codes. On a Whirlpool range with four-digit error codes, the F3-E0 code represents a failed temperature sensor and F3-E1 represents a short in the sensor. Regardless of which code is displayed, replacing the temperature sensor is the only way to correct the problem.
The error code of F2 and E1 on your gas range is indicating a keypad failure or an Electronic Range Control (ERC) board failure. The ribbon connector on the keypad could be damaged or shorted. One of the buttons could be stuck or shorted on the keypad. There is a good possibility of a failed (ERC) board as well.
I recommend having a service technician come out and diagnose which part failed and repair your range.
Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacment of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.
