While typing, the keys change to different letters

Usually on email, as that is mostly what I use this computer for... I'll be typing and suddenly the keys I'm hitting are typing out diffferent letters. I haven't been able to figure out what I'm touching if anything nor made any sense of how it is changing, a mirror of the keyboard or whatnot... I have to shut down the email and reopen it to reset. This is happening more frequently, 5 times yesterday alone. Thank you, Barbara

Is your shift key stuck in the down position? Try pressing it a few times to release the key.

Do a system restore to a point previous to the power failure shut down. It sounds like the abrupt shut down glitched the system.

SOURCE: keyboard stuck on fn

I found this on another site, and it worked on my Vostro 1510:

Try pressing shift + numlock (Scrolllock in blue) to toggle the Fn feature.

Normal numlock comes on, so press it again by itself to turn that off.

I have an older lg.wen I txt, I can't get 1 letter at a time

Besides the fact that you should get rid of that ancient device as they make life difficult lol you have to change the settings from t9.
When you are in the texting area you only have to hit the right key to change from t9 to Alphabet (not sure it's the exact spelling for t9 but one of the keys (usually bottom left or top left corner will allow you to type normal or to guess words by what you type, some of which can be confusing.)
for the letter e you have to push the 2 key 3 times I believe, if you keep pressing each key you will see different letters, numbers and symbols, perhaps a Users manual is available online (can google it, is available to tell you how to change the texting type.
Dunno this helps but it's so old I cant recall exact details but that's the gist of it.

How do I change font size in my e-mail - make letters smaller

Depends which E-mail process you are going through, but it is usually the letter A a to show size difference or a drop-down menu for type of font and a number.

How do I turn off key board shortcuts?

Check your keyboard...

Is the Alt or Ctrl buttons stuck or pressed down?

If none of the above then it sounds like you need a new keyboard.
You'll be glad to hear they are quite cheap to buy and a professional should not charge a lot to replace it if you have the replacement part.

Wrong letters display when I type

Hi Check "Control Panel" > "Regional and Language Options" > "Keyboards and Languages" > "Change Keyboards". This brings up the "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box in Vista (XP may be a slightly different path). This box will display (in the "Installed services" section) how many keyboard layouts are installed on your computer. If have more than just the "US" keyboard installed, there exists certain keyboard combinations with the "Ctrl" key that will automatically switch your keyboard layout from the default US to another one that is installed

On my laptop in green are symbols and numbers, for example letter L has a green 3, when I try to type a word with the letter L a 3 appears, how do I change this? At the moment I have my old keyboard...

if you press the L key and the number 3 comes up. you likely have the num lock on.

is different for every computer but usually you can deactivate the num lock by pressing 2 keys at the same time.
the fist key is usually the key labeled (Fn) and the other key is usually a function key (the ones with F an a number), the way to find which is the other key is to look at the keyboard and try to find one that has a simble that looks like a tiny numerical key-pad
press both keys and a light that signals that the num lock is on should go off. at that point you should have your l and any other letters again typeable.

good luck

There seems to be an issue with the keys and buttons on the sidekick. When i hit the volume, it scrolls down or up. When I hit certain keys, it types a number of different letters/numbers. What might be...

Some fixes:
1. Change your keypad and see if it works. 2. If you have changed the panel recently it is the problem you need to fix it in exact position or you need to buy original panel for your mobile. Duplicates ll damage your key bed.
