Popped lamp, rapid clicking after replacement

When watching TV we heard a very loud pop and so i figured it was the lamp, i just replaced it and the old lamp was in pieces, little pieces of glass moving around inside. I just put in the new lamp and turned on the TV and now when i tries to turn on i hear some rapid clicking and or grinding. not the normal clicks you hear when turning on the TV though. the TV tries to turn on a couple times then turns off and i see no indicator lights that could be used to troubleshoot. anyone have any ideas?

Take it out and get in there with a vacuum. There are fans that keep it cool and there is a color wheel that might be damaged. All those shards need to be removed

SOURCE: T.v. clicking and wont turn on..

Hello:

The loud pop you heard is usually indicative of a failed lamp. The clicking noise you hear is likely the ballast trying to turn the lamp on.

If you need assistance with a new lamp, please feel free to contact us at www.dlplampsource.com or 866-764-5822.

SOURCE: TV will not turn on

you either have leaky capacitors near the voltage regulators, cooling fluid leaking on the boards, and/or bad solder connections on the yoke plugs. this model is known for all 3 problems, but you probably need a qualified tv repairman to fix this right.

SOURCE: My tv made a loud pop and the screen flickered

You have a damaged sustain board or color engine. All 3 boards should be replaced and retuned. This is not a DIY, although many do try it they end up paying more than having it fixed right the first time. Take the tip, call in a professional and save money.
parts $400 + 2 hrs labour But swapping boards does not fix it and in fact can blow them again.

Hi,
It seems lamp/ bulb popped again, check lamp inside tv.
If tv does not show red blinking light then it would be lamp that knocked off, replace lamp in tv to fix its problem, please buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv.
Let me know if you have additional question.

I was watching t.v. Heard a loud pop and the t.v.

Sounds like the lamp popped. If you can find a tech pub on how to take it apart, or are gullable enough to tear into it, the lamp should be found for around $150. Maybe less. But you can also get a new 32" for under $400 too.

Tv went out after loud pop and has clicking noise does not turn on

If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp.  The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours.  Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.

HEARD LOUD POP NOISE DLP TV DOES NOT WORK

Following up on my Feb 7 post. My new lamp arrived, and I replaced it and it works great. The old lamp had many shards of glass come out of it. It was tore up. I saved some money buy purchasing just the lamp and not the cartridge. It's a little bit more work to take apart, but saves money. Mitsubishi wanted $289 for the lamp replacement kit. I got a lamp for $114. TV is working just fine now!
