My inspiron 1300 is having problem with battery. one day i used it with out AC connection n the battery was fully discharged, then kept it for charging it up but it was not working, the green light was blinking but battery wasn't charging then it started to blink red light. i replaced the battery. now even though the battery is fully charged but still the green light was blinking after some time it started to blink red light. i took off the AC connection battery is fine working.n even if i take off the battery it works with direct AC connection. but why is the light blinking? plz help me out

Black screen is often caused by a defective screen. The easiest way to determine if you have a hardware or software problem is by performing a power drain. Please follow the steps below for additional instructions.
Power Drain: 1. Turn off the computer.
2. Unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet and take out the battery from the system.
3. Now, press the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
4. Put back the battery in and plug the AC adapter.
5. Turn on the system and try observing it. --> If power drain did not work, you need to consult a repairman to have your screen be checked for possible damage.
adapter should be fine..if light comes on adapter should be good...leave battery out of the system...just use adapter and when starting system up tap f12...see if u can see this menu..if not try a external monitor to see if u can get a image..if so run the diagnostic..if still no image or no external monitor it may be a mb
If you have replaced the battery with a NEW one and it doesn't charge, then you either have an issue with the AC adapter (If the sensing pin is bent or broken in the barrel of the connector, the battery will not charge) or the charger curcuit of the motherboard. If the issue occurs on a different AC adapter, then FLash the BIOS to current version. If battery still doesn't charge, then replace the motherboard
the vr\ery first thing what u have to do is that disconnect the ac adaptor and take the battery out of the computer and then press and hold down the power button without the battery and the adaptor for one minute and then connect the ac adaptor and put the battery back in and then try and turn it on and what u can do is that try and turn on the computer only with the battery and then take the battery out and try and turn it on only with the adaptor,and then what u can try is that try with the different adaptor having same configuration,and try and connect the ac adaptor into the different wall outlet....good luck
the very first thing that u can try is that try with the different ac adaptor and the battery if u have and if it doesnt the same thing then definately u have to replace the motherboard and if the other ac adaptor and the battery works then replace the ac adaptor and the battery but what i suggest u is that u should replace the ac adaptor and the motherboard both at a time and it will be fine and for that u dont have to worry about ur data in the computer cause replacing the motherboard will bot loose ur data.......

As a system gets a little age on it, the battery naturally decays. Also, each time you plug the ac adapter into the laptop, the adapter connection on the motherboard becomes a bit looser on the solder points, all of which contributes to the symptoms you describe.
You could try a fresh battery.
The standard rule is a battery is wireds to last between 500-600 cycles, then it's dead. They claim it's a safety feature.

If your battery pack does not charge and power is being supplied by the AC adaptor to the computer then i would guess the cells are dead or maybe the connection to the battey has been damaged in some way. The best way to check is take it to a computer repair shop or spares shop and ask them to try it with a new battery if the same problem occurs then it is the connection or the ac adaptor. My solution would be try a new battery before you buy it to check if it is the problem.
