Kenmore washing machine series 90 is leaking

Kenmore washing machine series 90 leaks water on the floor. do I need to take the back off to check hoses inside the machine? My Kenmore 90 Series washer is leaking water on the floor during the initial fill cycle. Can't quite see where its coming from but its near the rear/right of the machine. Any thoughts?

Tip the washer onto the front and you will be able to see through the bottom to look for leaks.

Kenmore 500 series top load washer. water on the floor during water pump out cycle. This does not appear to happen on prement press cycle, but does happen on normal cycle. Have no tried the heavy duty...

Could be a tub seal leaking (not likely), or water pump leaking (very common), cracked outer tub, leaking hose. You would really need to take washer cabinet off machine to be able to see where it's actually leaking.

I have a Kenmore 90 series heavy duty washer that is leaking water all over my floor enough to soak up a couple of towels. What can this be and how do I fix? thank you.

could have a cracked water pump or the pipe that the drain line drains into is backing up.one other thing it could be is bad tub seals, the water will leak from the bottom middle of the tub but most likely it will be the pump, this is an easy fix,pop off the two clamps that hold the pump on and with a pair of plyers remove the two clamps on the hoses, make sure you put down a couple of bath towels to catch water that's still in the hoses, let me know how you make out, next time send model number, one of the most common pumps for your machine is 3363394 but check it with the part number on the old pump and give the parts store the correct model number.good luck

I have a kenmore 90 series top loading washer and every time I wash clothes there is water all over the floor.

Disassemble and look for problems, there are several smaller hoses that can come off and allow leaks.

Kenmore 90 series washer is leaking water from the pump. How do I remove the pump to repair or replace? Thanks!

Hi, You can change the pump by disconnecting power, water fill hoses, & take drain hose out od drain. Lay the washer on its back (use some padding under machine so that you do not damage threads on inlet valve. The pump is located on motor and has two clamps holding it. Just remove those clamps and the two drain hoses from the pump. The pump should release from the motor shaft. If the motor shaft is rusty, the pump might not want to come off ease and the shaft will need to be cleaned with sand paper or emery cloth so the new pump will go on easy. Failure to get the pump on all the way will cause the new pump to leak also.
Put your hoses back on the pump and everything should be ok.

I hope this helps you some.

Kenmore washing machine series 90 is leaking

Hi MPT,

Don't take the back panel off!!!

Watch this video to learn how to access the machine.

Generally on a Whirlpool built Kenmore like yours, the drain pump has failed and now it's leaking. The pump is right there in front, the big round white thing. It's connected to the motor by 2 clips. It'll be one of two types of pump... this one or this one <----notice the difference in hose connections?

It's easy to replace, just make sure that the machine is completely empty when you remove the hose or have a shop-vac handy when you do.
