If the radio is receiving data from the Elite 5, (Owners manual, link below) Page 6 the GPS icon (#11) on that page will indicate it.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: When connecting a GPS to

In order for the radio to send these received coordinates back to your Garmin GPS automatically, a NMEA out line on your Radio and a NMEA IN line on your Garmin GPS would have to be connected. The Garmin has this line. The Uniden does not. So, in order to see where these received coordinates are on your GPS, you would have to manually enter them in the GPS as a waypoint and display the waypoint. Without this NMEA out connection, the radio can not send the data to the GPS, which is why you will not see any DSC calls on your GPS call log.

The GPS component of my Lowrance Elite-5 Gold is malfunctioning about 50% of the time.

Hey Les, Since you have replace both the unit and transducer, you have eliminated/diagnosed most of your problem.. Its in the wiring... sometime when I am in full GPS mode I get erroneous depth readings..?? Have you tried a different GPS module (the "puck")?

Where can we go to get a wiring diagram for the wires that exit the radio. The green and yellow are together and orange and brown are together. Then two black

I realize this question has been here forever, but I've included the link to the Owner's Manual in case anyone requires it. Page 5 shows which wires go to/from external equipment. Orange (+) and the small black (-) are for your external speaker. Green is + for gps data in while the brown is GPS ground. Yellow is not used.

My uniden ltd 715 receives from my handheld but when I transmit to handheld it just buzzes.

Just to clarify something, you say that your hand-held VHF can receive a clear transmission from the Uniden, now which of the radios are buzzing, the Uniden or the HH?. If it's the hand-held buzzing try transmitting on the low watt on the Uniden, get some distance from the radio, because if the hand-held are to close to the on the Uniden on high watt you will get a buzzing, the signal are overpowering the receiver of the hand-held, try getting the minimum of 30 feet away. Good luck.

Please could you supply me with the service manual for a Uniden Solara DSC. Thanks The radio was tested and is transmitting well, however it doesn't seem to be receiving. Suspect the problem lies...

It has been my experience that Uniden won't part with their owners manual cheaply. As a matter of fact, you can probably pick up a new radio for less than the cost of a manual.
Welcome to the world of disposable electronics.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.

I press dsc and see no change on the screen

Many VHFs will not acknowledge any of the DSC functions if the unit is not receiving position data. If the unit is correctly wired to a GPS or chartplotter and you can verify that it is receiving position information, then you may have a faulty radio.
