I replaced mine without removing any of the unit. It is a bit trickier getting the inside locking spring in place, but it is possible.
Mine got torn when my mother-in-law who was visiting and had never used a front load left a towel partially out of the door and it pulled the seal into the washer and nicked it..
This video will show you how to change a door seal on this
Bosch WFMC6400UC front loader washing machine
we have all bosch repairs in our channel
You can get seals
on eBay
Pay the repair guy, even if it didn't include the part (seal) its cheap at $200. I replaced my door seal, I think the part cost me $36. In order to do the job correctly you need to remove the top, take off the front, remove the counter weight (to get room to work and not bust your knuckles). If you have an older machine the replacement seal is not a direct match. My seal won't allow the door to close completely and i have to lean on it to allow it to lock on start. I have had the seal in for about 4 months and am noticing the door closes better and I only have to lean on it a couple of times.
I replaced my seal because of the mildew problem caused by poor drain hole design. How does your seal get torn?

We have the identical problem. The service guy is here right now. Good luck fixing it yourself because he is charging a whopping $234.68 to repair it! This is the SECOND time we've had this problem. I'm trying to figure out how to complain to Bosch. Of course we are out of warantee...
i changed the seal but now the door wont close properly. hooking the springs that hold seal in place was a knuckle buster, so hope i don't have to do over!!!
My 6400 is also torn at the bottom, with water leaking out.....Can I purchase just the seal, and where can i find some info on replacing it?
Torn in the bottom and door leaks.
The bottom of the seal is torn (i have no idea how) and water is leaking out of the door. I also have major mildew problems on the seal and a stagnant water smell.
