Hi.

I too have also bought the aspire 5738.
Mine was also hanging, eventually i sent it back to acer.
The mother board was replaced as it had a faulty north bridge on it.
If your unit is still in warranty get it done as soon as possible.

Acer Aspire 4720z WIndows Vista- crashes every day

there is a programme on the pc that is not compatable with vista, this is called "hanging" this is a common problem with vista as it is not compatable with certain programmes and hardware, you need to find the software that is causing the hang, go to the event viewer by right clicking on "my computer" and select "manage" select event viewer and the software, that will tell you which programme is causing the hang/freeze and uninstall it

Install xp on acer extensa 4220 hard disk not detected

Acer Extensa supports two model of HDD installation 1) AHCI and 2) SATA.

Windows Vista get installs on both but for Windows XP you need to Enable SATA option.

For that go into Bios, Change option of Hard Disk from AHCI to SATA. After that you can install both XP as well as Vista.

Try it, and mail me update: [email protected]

Windows Vista hangs while browsing

An operating system hanging indicates that either the program you are using, or the operating system itself, has crashed. The easiest way to eliminate hangs is to start up the computer from your Windows installation disc, and then either choose to Repair your installation, Restore the installation or install a new Windows OS.
Your computer came with a recovery option that lets you "reset" or recover to a known "good point". Hold down the "Alt" key and then hit the "F10" key (both at once) to activate the feature, and then follow the on-screen directions.
