I am using a macbook and my printer used to print fine. Now it prints an extra page with the numbers 2345X before it prints the page you want to print. I tried it on my windows machine windows 7 164 bit and it just keeps printing pages and pages of garbage. it copies perfectly. What can I do to fully reset it to factory settings. It does not have a keypad with the # and 6 and i have tried resetting it a few times by power cycling and pressing the cancel and colour copy buttons. I also used a different cable but its not helping. Kindly help

Re you using genuine HP NEW cartridges? If not, you must make sure that whoever has re manufactured the ones you are using has replaced the chip on the cartridge. This tells the machine how many copies are on the cartridge.

I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy until I did this. Please follow exactly and IN ORDER.
1. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again
2. Let the printer print the test page.
3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.
4. Place
the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button
on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.
5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.
6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!
(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)

The problem isn't with the printer. Make sure that your particular printer is specified in the printers folder. If, for instance, you have a Lexmark printer specified and hook up an HP, the HP will print garbage.

Ok, I too have HP Photosmart 7280 and it was spit'g out a blank page
after each print page.
I went into the Control Panel/Printers - Right
click on the HP Photosmart 7200 series icon and choose delete. Don't
worry...just delete it.
Right above (Vista) click on Add a Printer - it's going to ask you if you want to add a local printer which is connected via USB connection or if you are set up wireless then choose Network
It will find your printer click on the printer hit next - then this is the most important step
It will ask you to find the manufacturer it shows Hewlett-Packard and underneath it shows HP - Do not click on HP - you'll have the same problem with that driver - choose Hewlett-Packard and find this driver HP Photosmart C7200 series Version 61.71.244.0 [3/23/07]
Hopefully they are all digitally signed with this information.
Click on that driver and click next - then click on replace the current driver and click next.
Print a test page and problem should be solved. Hope it helped!
