SOURCE: Yesterday afternoon both handset 1 and handset 2

You need to replace the rechargable batteries. They are quite expensive, $30.00 each, but thats likely why they are dead.

How do you set up voicemail; on a uniden dect 6.0?

Which exact model Uniden DECT phone do you have? There are a number of models. Some require you to set up the answering machine from a handset. Other models have a Menu button on the base station, as well. The entire list of DECT phone manuals are here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/dectphones_mnl . They are listed in alphabetical and numerical order. Ignore any digits after the dash in the model number, that indicates the number of handsets in the original package. My experience with Uniden DECT phones includes systems where the menu is accessed from the base like the D3588, http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/D3588om.pdf .

The following directions work for the Uniden systems that I have used to set up the . First make sure that the answering system is on at the base station and the phone is in standby. Next press the Menu/Select button and use the Up/Down arrows to navigate to Answering Setup. Press Menu/Select to enter the submenu. Then navigate to the different options in this menu and press Menu/Select to enter them.

To record a greeting message, navigate to Record Greeting. Press Select and wait for the "Record Greeting" response. Speak your greeting clearly (between 2 and 30 seconds) and press Select to Stop the recording. You'll hear the greeting repeated. Press End (on the handset) or Stop/Cancel on the base to interrupt the playback.

Next press the Phone Book button to go back up to the Answer Setup menu. Select Greeting Options to switch greetings (if your model has a default greeting). Use Select to switch between greetings. (Arrow keys to swap; Select to confirm.) Use the Ring Time option to select how many rings before the unit picks up. If you wish to use the answering system when you are away, make sure to set up a Security code and press Select to confirm the code. Make a note of the code. Press End to exit the menu system.

Note: if you have Voicemail from your telephone provider, you will need to ensure that your Uniden phone picks up before the Voicemail service.

I hope this helps.

I have the uniden dect 6.0 3 handset. I lost my manuel and do not know how to record my answer message

Which specific Uniden DECT 6.0 phone do you have? There are a number of them. Uniden has the manuals available here: http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl . Phones are listed in alphabetical and numerical order.

If the answering system is off, turn it on before proceeding to the following steps.

If you are at home, there are usually two methods to access the answering system. Some Uniden phones let you set the outgoing message from the base or the handset. Others will only let you set the message from the handset. (Calling in remotely is more complicated.)

To access the answering system menu from a handset, on some models, push the Mute/Messages button. Then let your current message play or press 5 to stop the recorded announcement. Then either use the up/down arrows to select Record New Greeting (or the number that matches the sub-menu item). It's number 8 on the DECT1480. Then wait for the prompt (tone or "Record Greeting") and then speak into the handset clearly. Press 8 to stop recording and press End to save the message. Press 6 to select the outgoing greeting if a default greeting is available.

On other Uniden DECT phones, press Menu and go to Ans Setup. Then choose the line for the greeting (if it's a multi-line phone) and then select Record Greeting. Press Start, wait for the prompt and then press Stop when done. Press Stop again to save the message. If there is an optional pre-recorded greeting, use the Greeting Option submenu to select the greeting to play. (This applies to the DECT4086.)

From the base, you'll do something similar. However, you should stay about 9" from the microphone while recording. Messages can be between 30 seconds and 3 minutes 30 seconds for most systems.

I hope this helps.

How do I change my original message on the answer machine?

Which Uniden DECT 6.0 phone do you have? Uniden makes several models.

For one Uniden phone that I know (DECT-1080), first make sure that the answering system is on. If needed, at the base press Ans On/Off. From a handset, press Menu/OK and use the redial and Phone Book keys to navigate through the menu to AM Operation. Press Menu/OK and navigate to Ans Settings. Press Menu/OK and navigate to Answer On/off. Press Menu/OK and then choose On and then Menu/OK again.

To set the Out-Going Message, again go to the Ans Settings submenu at the handset, and navigate to Record OGM and press Menu OK. Select OGM 1 or OGM 2 and press Menu/OK. Record your message after the tone. To select the OGM message to be heard by incoming callers, navigate to Select OGM, press Menu/OK, select the message and press Menu/OK.

Please note that you also need to make sure that the system isn't set to Announce Only in the Message length section. Enter this submenu from the Answer Settings as above. The choices are 1 minute, 4 minutes and Announce Only.

You can also do set the OGM from a touch tone phone remotely. Press * as the OGM plays and then enter your PIN. Press 06 and then 1 or 2 to select the OGM to edit. Then press 9 to return to the main menu.

However, on the DECT-1480, you set the OGM from the handset but in a different combination. Press Messages/Mute then 5 (or wait for the announcements to end). Press 8 or press the Caller ID/right arrow to navigate through the menu to 8: Record New Greeting. Press Menu/Select. Wait until you hear "Record greeting" then speak your message normally. Press 8 to end and listen to the playback of the greeting. Press End to save the message. (Select the desired greeting by pressing 6 instead of 8.)

Most Uniden DECT phone manuals are available from the product page or this list: http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl .

If you provide your model number in a comment, I'll be glad to give you the specific directions for setting the OGM on your phone.

I hope this helps.

How do i set the answering system on a uniden 1580-3 phone, mine is just background noise on the answering machine when someone calls in to leave a message

Here is the manual for your phone. You can download the manual and the instructions for setting up your answering machine are on page 43:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/DECT1580-3om.pdf

Setting Up the Answering System
You can set up your answering system's features from the handset. Only one handset at a time can access the answering system menus.

Note: If you have multiple bases, select the base with answering system you want to access (see page 15).

Recording a Personal Greeting
Your answering system comes with a pre-recorded outgoing message or greeting that plays when you receive a call: "Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone." You can record your own personal outgoing greeting. Your recorded greeting must be between two seconds and thirty seconds long.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 8 to start the recording. The system announces, "Record greeting." Begin recording after the announcement.

When you finish recording, press 8 again or press 5. You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recorded greeting plays back for you.

Selecting a Greeting

Once you have recorded a personal greeting, the phone automatically switches to your personal greeting. You can
also switch back and forth between the pre-recorded greeting and your own greeting at any time.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 6. The system plays the current greeting.

New uniden phone; cannot find how to set up personal recording. HELP!

You have to push the Mute button on the handset. Phone will begin to beep; as it does, press the number 8. Phone will then allow you to set up a personal greeting. Lousy system. Should have been an option in the menu.
