Garmin shows picture computer

The computer picture shows if the usb cable connects to a computer. If the picture shows when the usb socket is connected to the cigar lighter power supply, it could be that the socket in the Garmin has got damaged. I had a Nuvi 200 like this where the socket had broken away from the circuit board inside, but the repair was difficult, involving micro-soldering!

Hi my landrover discover 300tdi keep losing power and then the engine check light come on ?

Check main battery leads also check connections (negative connections to chassis) also check main plug to ECU ( disconnect battery before plug removal) when plug is removed check that there is no corrosion on pins spray WD40 in socket and plug and put a little grease around rubber seal and carefully replace plug ( the grease will help seal plug against moisture and water) if all the connections are ok try wiggling loom around starter motor and main fuse board as you may have a broken wire wiggling loom may give you an idea of area loom may be damaged have ignition on and a helper in driving seat when wiggling so as they can tell you if ignition lights flash or go out
hope this helps

Only one of 3 hdmi ports work

If all 3 are side by side or even on same board I would suspect physical damage is the problem first--those HDMI sockets are not very sturdy and considering the way they are solder in not usually replaced by themselves.

We in our shop are not lazy but will usually just replace the board they are connected to if suspect the problem is not elsewhere in the set.

Lets face it--those were never meant for hard use-like plugging and unplugging a lot not to mention the poor quality of parts used in many cases.

Google the model with "parts" or visit the LG site---I have seen brand new out of the box sets with bad ones--the average person is much stronger than those sockets are. Makers of lap top computers learned this lesson early on and went to better made USB sockets for this precise reason.

Audio problem

What you likely have is the socket the jack goes into is damaged--it is supposed to cut the speakers off when the jack is inserted.

The socket can be replaced: a small round nut secures it (around the entrance) and it only has 3 wires in most cases that need to soldered on.

Lots of places like Radio shack should have a replacement.

when you insert the jack it moves a leaf (small metal plate) to kill the speakers= with the jack being inserted and pulled out the little leaf may get bent----I have taken a lot of the sockets out and tweaked the plate a tiny bit to correct this kind of problem--but if available usually just replace the socket---some are mounted into the circuit board but only have 3 solder connections to free it from the board.

Others have it mounted directly thru the front cabinet and are more easy to get out/deal with.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause this problem or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

Hi, most external hard drives come with a seperate power supply, the exception is "pocket" externals which some have the ability to run from the USB socket alone. They have laptop drives in them. Many of these drives come with a USB cable that occupies 2 USB sockets in order to obtain enough ppower to run. (Or a second cable that occupies a second USB with a power plug on the end for a drive. They will often not run on one socket. If your device came with a double USB lead then use this. If it came with an external power supply then use it as well as the USB lead. Try the same on another PC just to confirm the USB sockets on the one you currently use are ok or try a different device to prove correct function.
If all this fails to get your drive running then the drive itself is probably faulty. Is it under guarantee? If so then you can get a replacement. This will lose your data though as the guarantee does not cover stored information. In this situation, is the data more important than the drive? If very important, buy a replacement empty external drive case, remove your drive from the original case (voiding the warranty) and fit the drive in the new case and try again. If it now works you have a dead interface board in the old case, if still not working you have a faulty hard drive. Does the drive click continouously? If it spins then you could try data recovery software or run "HDD regenerator 1.71" on it to fix potentially bad sectors and try again. This is a time consuming process but if the data you need is saved then it is worth it!

I hope this helps

Magellan GPS does not turn on

I've got one that has a problem with the power connector. Look on the adapter thingy (has the female power socket along with the usb socket). With a pin, wiggle the center power pin. If it is loose, this is the problem. Carefully use a knife to open the adapter thingy (it's glued together). Go to Radio Shack/Fry's and get a replacement power female socket that solders to the little PC board in the adapter thingy. This will fix it. Allen
