Cannot remove settings appearing on d40x playback

Press menu when in shooting or playback mode.
Goto settings.
goto reset and press yes
This will reset the menu's and shooting options.
It will nit affect date, time and language settings.
This you can find in the user manual on page 95 e.v.

Since you can't get into the menu, let's try a manual reset. Remove the card and the battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

Can you upload a photo that shows this? You can just take one set to low resolution so the file size isn't too big.

Are you certain you used to have Live View on the D40x? Then something was wrong, as Nikon never put it in.

The D40x does not have Live View.

Did you used FAT32 to format the mem card? FYI -- D40/x do not support FAT32.

I would start by looking at all of the push buttons on the camera. One may be stuck down.

If you press the magnifying glass button when in playback mode, the data dissappears. I don't know if that fully answers your question, though.

Try formatting the card then using it again. Does this work?

You've just turned on the "highlights" option in image review. Press the up arrow on the d-pad to get back to the normal setting.

In your custom settings no 15 Auto Timers you can set the time.
