This is what happens during wrinkle guard. During the end of the cycle a dryer will go into wrinkle guard to protect clothes from being wrinkled. Either the timer is stuck in this position or it is set in this position. Wrinkle guard can be called different names depending on manufacture.
Since no model number was given, check to see if you have a setting commonly noted as "wrinkle guard", "wrinkle shield", "press care" or something to that affect. Those settings will run the dryer for as much as 90 min after a completed drying cycle to prevent wrinkles in clothing, allowing you time to remove the cloths after a dry cycle if you are busy. My wife, who runs "dryer central", stops the dryer short of complete drying and hangs the clothes that are easily wrinkled. You may also have the heat set too high, or the time set too long, causing the problem. Try experimenting. Be blessed.
You may have either a bad control board or the wrinkle guard sensors are failing. Either way you want to get a tech out to look at them. It is not something the average home owner should tackle. The wrinkle sensors are 2 metal pads that measure the moisture level. If they are shorted it will bypass the extra heating needed.
Sadly Kenmore of today is not the same as it was 30 years ago. its all the same now. Whirlpool, Kenmore(elite or otherwise) and maytag. That said, once the sensors of control board are repaired, you will be in good shape.
Check and see if your "cood down cycle" is working on your unit. If the clothes are cooled down while they are being tumbled, you have a fighting chance of folding them without them taking on permanent wrinkles. The clothes should only be lukewarm when they come out of the machine. (Dryer softener clothes might help some too.)
End of Cycle Signal
The End of Cycle Signal produces an audible sound when the
drying cycle is finished. Promptly removing clothes at the end of
the cycle reduces wrinkling.

clothes are removed, or WRINKLE GUARD _ ends.
make sure your washer is spinning the water completley out of the clothes. winkles are caused by moister and if there is a lot of moister in the dryer than it will winkle.
