I am trying to replace the belt on a hotpoint aquarius wf240 washing machine. I have removed the 2 bolts which appear to hold the motor in place ( 1 bolt on each side). However the motor still will not move up or down to enable me to loop the belt around the motor spindle. Am I missing a stage?

Hi. The motor is non adjustable on this washer. Tilt washer forward, get someone to hold it steady, and put belt round motor pulley first, then slip belt on drum pulley, and slowly turn drum by hand, feeding the belt on as you turn drum, be careful not to trap fingers, as it is very tight, this is normal, as the belt is a stretch type, this is the reason the motor is non adjustable. Please rate my advice. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip was very useful although I think my machine requires further servicing as the drum makes funny noise but I'm very grateful for you help.

Use electricians tie to secure the belt to the big pulley, make sure it is in the correct grooves on the motor pulley and then just turn the drum pulley clockwise till it reaches 3 o clock cut the tie(use good sidecutters and don't cut the belt) then it will wind fully on and be lined up correctly

How to fit a belt on a Aquarius WF240 washing machine

Remove the lower rear panel of the washer and the top cover also.
Tilt the washer forward, and from the top fit the belt round the motor pulley first, and slowly feed it round the drum pulley, turning the drum pulley at the same time.
Watch your fingers as the belt will be very tight and difficult to get round the pulley.
but this is the best way to do it, trust me on this.
If it comes off, just start again., once you have the belt on, you can then easily align it up properly on the 2 pulleys.

My brushes on my aquarius wma54 need replacing, where is the motor and how do i change the brushes.what type of motor is it

The motor is located at the bottom rear of the washer.
Remove lower rear panel, unplug lead into motor,, remove earth wire.
Remove 2 bolts holding motor to drum, lever motor away from you to remove.
Brushes are located at the end furthest away from the pulley.
There has been more than 1 type of motor fitted to this model, so until you remove the motor, you will not know which brushes you need.

Replace belt on Hotpoint Aquarius WM31 washing

Hi.
Remove top cover of washer.
Remove rear access panel.
Slacken off the motor fixing bolts, and pull motor towards drum top.
Fit belt round motor pulley first, and then feed it round the drum pulley from the rear of the washer.
Tighten motor bolts just enough to hold motor steady, and pull motor towardsa cabinet side to tension belt, it needs to be farly tight.
Then tighten motor bolts securely.
Fit back top and rear covers.

My machine wont spin it washes and empties but no spin?

seems like the carbon brushes on the motor. To do this unplug machine, and then remove the panel at the bottom of machine on the rear, this is just a screwdriver to remove this panel.Next tilt machine forward against a wall so you can see the motor. Remove the belt and then using a 13mm spanner remove the bolts holding motor in place. Now there is a plug with wires to the motor, unplug this and also remove the earth wire. Your motor is then ready to remove. best way is to place it onto floor and then slide under cabinet of machine. You will then see each side of motor 2 plastic casings with a wire going to each. These are the brushes. To remove them you need to remove the 2 screws on each. These black carbon brushes should be at least half inch long. When replacing motor ensure you connect earth wire. Brushes are about £ 15.00. Good luck

Belt fitting on a Hotpoint WMA46

Hi.
These belts are difficult to fit.
They appear to be too small, but they are in fact a stretch belt, so their is no adjustment provided on the motor itself.
The best way to do it is remove the back panel as you have done, remove the top cover also.
The with someone's assistance, tilt the washer away from you at the rear, getting someone to hold it for you.
Put the belt round the motor pulley first, and start feeding it round the drum pulley, slowing turning the pulley as you do so, the further you get it round, the tighter it will become.
Just keep going, and the belt will go on, watch you don't trap your fingers in the process. If it slips off, then start again.
Good luck

Thankyou.

Hotpoint wf240 replacment of belt, i cant get it on.

Hi, put the belt on the bottom pully and feed the rest up to the top pully, fit the belt on to half of the top pully, now open the door of the washer and very carefuly turn the drum while holding the belt tight to the pully, take care not to get your fingers trapped, make sure that the belt stays on both pullys by rotating the drum by hand a few times, if it all looks ok and central then the jobs a good un.

Hotpoint Aquarius WMA42. I was using the machine when there was a bang and the electrics tripped. I reset the fuse box, checked the plug fuse and the socket but still nothing. No lights so presumably no...

It more than likely is the motor that has shorted. Remove lower rear panel, remove belt. Undo 2 screws that hold motor in place, remove motor plug, lever motor back to remove same,
Remove carbons and check for wear, also look at armature and see if there is any sign of shorting, clean armature with emery paper, fit new carbons, refit motor and belt, test.

If it still does not work, then in all probability it will have blown the main control board.which would require replacing.

Washing machine not spinning

Its a pain on this model but heres how. First remove plate at back of machine. Remove belt and two bolts holding motor (13mm).Unplug motor and remove. brushes are at back end of motor in plastic housings. after refitting motor replacing belt is where the fun begins. Put bottom end on first and feed round pulley. ouch
