I recently purchased a new ford with Microsoft Sync - When my phone was first paired, phonebook downloaded, but after first call - it was like all other calls were on private. Ford recommended I updated the software in my phone... and Ford also updated the synce software. Now I cannot download my phone book. I get a download error. Therefore, I cannot use the system via voice activation. I have to make all calls using my phone to connect to the system in the car. Does anyone know how I get the phonebook downloaded to my car system? I I was having the same problem with my U740. I went a got a U750 and it is having the same problem. However, the phone my wife have and ENV2 works just fine. I think this maybe a problem with Samsung and Ford not being on the same page.
First, before you go to your vehicle. Delete the Sync connection on your phone. Then go to the vehicle and turn it on. Push the Phone icon on the center console, in a moment the "phone menu" will appear. Turn the tuning knob until the screen says "System Settings," push OK, then turn the knob until it says "Bluetooth Devices." Turn the knob to "Delete Devices." Hit OK, it should show your phone model number, push OK again. Then turn the know to the word "Return." Then turn the knob until it shows "Add Bluetooth Device." Hit OK. Push OK again and the Ford Sync system automatically offers a 6-digit PIN number on the standard. However, if you turn the tuning knob, it will say "Special PIN." Push the OK button and the system will show a four-digit PIN. Go to your phone and have it search for Bluetooth devices. Select Sync and then enter in the 4-digit PIN. After acknowledgement, the Sync system will ask the question "Make Primary" push OK. Then it may ask about "Set 911 Assist On?" push OK. Then it will ask "Download Phonebook." Push OK and OK one more time. Then give it some time to download the phonebook. If you have a phone model that is compatible to download contacts, this process may take up to three minutes or so. Contact your samsung mobile store and have them upgrade the sync for you to pair with the car.

I did contact Samsung and got the run around. Even though there is a reference to a new software version for the phone, Samsung would not give it to me.
