My freezer is a kenmore model 253.9135311 built in 1994. This winter while heavily frosted it stopped cooling. I had to stuff my food in a snowbank and then in a friend's freezer. The light goes on but the compressor gives no sign of life. I figure it is the conpressor that is gone and nothing can be done but replace it at high cost to Sears repair. Maybe there is another way but I don't know it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Kenmore 16 Model 253 freezer stored for 7 years. Runs quiet just like before but will not get cold.
