How to save videos from sony handycam to my home pc

I have same camera and computer. I use IEEE1394 FireWire(CardBus PCcard). It works for Ulead DVD MovieWriter which is in my Vista.

To clean the video tape heads of a camcorder, use a dry video head-cleaning cassette.
Follow the instructions provided with the video head cleaner for proper use.

Oddly I have the oposite of this problem. I actually did find the drivers but now I need to find a software that will record the video off of it. I normally use MotionDV STUDIO but for some reason it won't detect this camera.

If I understand the user guide correctly, you can set the capture format in Preferences and have the captured video saved as MPEG1, there may be other options depending on what that version offers. If this is the only software you have to edit video, you must capture it first to have it saved to a folder of your choosing (usually set up in preferences). After that you should be able to use Windows Media Player or Quicktime to play back the file you captured. You can convert the MPEG1 files to another format if you want by using free software such as AVS Video Converter or other software.

Where is software CD, came with camera?

You have to plug your camera into the computer, put it on VCR mode, go to the menu on the camcorder, select setup menu (4th down), usb stream, turn it on. I cannot believe it was that easy.

I have a sony hi 8 video camera recorder. Someone dropped it and now we cant get the tape out to put in another camera. Can I use a USB to get the information off the camera?
