I have a miele optima series that has a fault code of f70 and the drain pump keeps running after the door is open. Nothing else is working. Can i fix this?

Yes. F70 is a flood in the base of the unit which activates the float switch and constantly activates the drain pump until the water has gone. Isolate the unit at the power switch and remove the bottom panel under the door panel. Dry up the water as best possible with a towel. You will see the float at the front. Run the unit again and check for any water leaks. You may just have over sudded the unit with too much detergent. Only use 2 teaspoons of powder. To start with while testing don't use any detergent. I had the f70 code and took off the bottom pan. Looked all round and could see where the water was coming from. Then I noticed a small silver stick that I'm guessing is the temperature sensor. It has some how come loose and must have been pushed back thought the seal in the bottom of the dishwasher from the inside when I was cleaning a blockage. Pushed it back through, screwed everything back and it s now working fine.
I have the same problem. Have opened the front as you suggested and soaked up the water that was pushing the float disc up but when running the machine (without detergent), water reappears down below. Any idea on possible causes of water getting in? What should be my next steps?
Some common causes for water leaking into the bottom pan, can be: 1.) the dishwasher not leveled (front of unit is tilted lower the the rear); 2.) the temperature sensor (cylindrical-shaped and silver) was manually pushed through, leaving a hole in the bottom sump, of the dishwasher. (bottom filter must be removed to see location of temperature sensor); and 3.)water intake (water diverter path) has cracked. Cause # 2 will fill the bottom pan pretty quickly.
F70 with the pump running happened to us each year for the last three just before Xmas. Like 'taurustech' says opening up the panel at the bottom front revealed water in the tray with the float valve making the pump run, fixed by turning off the power and carefully dabbing the water out with a towel. Yes it means water getting into the bottom of the unit and the float valve safety working as it should. In our case I think it is because my teen age children come home from university and let the garburator fill up with waste blocking the drain hose, forces water thru the seal in the bottom of the unit to the pan, disables the dishwasher for Xmas! luckily running the garburator more frequently after getting the water out of the bottom pan has fixed the problem and Xmas dinner for 14 can go on as planned with a working dishwasher.
I have an optima G 2420 and I don't see any access to the bottom pan via the outside underneath the front panel. I am getting the F70 fault, and the pump keeps going until I unplug the unit. A week ago, I had a stoppage in the drain pipe that the dishwasher/sink was connected to. I was trying to wash dishes before I realized I had a blockage and I got my first F70 fault (this was probably legit). I got the pipes cleared out, but am still getting F70 faults and the intake/drain light blinking. What happens is I run the rinse cycle, which is 15 minutes long, and I can hear the water bring turned on and off in short cycles. It does this at the 13th minute, and oddly never gets past the 13th minute in the program. What is happening is that the dishwasher is filling itself up with water until finally the F70 fault trips and all the water is drained out (almost all of it). I have to open the triple filter in the bottom of the dishwasher and soak up the remaining water. I'm not sure what the intake/drain light is all about, so I checked the waterr pressure and it was over 30 psi, so it shouldn't be an intake problem. I cleaned both the intake filter on the little attachment that con nets to the hot water, and the non-return valve. I did find something lodged in the non-return valve which I was able to remove. However, I'm not getting any results. Any help is appreciated!

Intake/Drain light flashing means an issue while draining. The
dishwasher is not draining properly. Please check for air gap on the dishwasher
is not clogged. It prevents dishwasher from draining properly and sometimes the
drain flow is restricted due to gunk. Cleaning or bypassing the air gap will
resolve the issue. If this doesn't resolve the issue then it is due to seized
(or stuck) drain pump. Keep handy large bowls and towels to soak the water out.
Disconnect the power to the dishwasher or turn off the breaker to the
dishwasher. Tip machine on its back; remove screws that hold the bottom tray
on. Remove the hoses to the main motor, remove electrical connections and
switch it on. If the error still appears then turn the rotary selector switch
to "Stop/End" or press the "Start/Stop" switch for approx.
5 secs to cancel the error message. Switch the appliance off and then back on
again. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.
