When i powered the pc on i always get a black screen with a floating box that states: not optimum mode recommended mode 1280 x 1024 60hz. I can't even see anything to interface and attempt to change. There was no problem before and the resolution or hz rate was changed. hello , i have the same problem , i am a dutch guy and i test it on 2 difrence computers ( good working computers ) both computers wen i started him up the title not optimum mode . so its not the computer , the cable from computer to the monitor is new . i think i gif him a bullet . somwone a better id ??
This means your computer windows resolution is not display in the correct resolution which your samsung LCD will take.
What you need to do it boot the computer in safe mode. (pressing F8 at start up and select safe mode) This should bring the windows to start up in the generic 800x600 resolution.
Once you are able to see the display in safe mode, go onto the display properties and change the resolution.
* right click on desktop -> properties -> settings

I have the same monitor with same probelm. I dont know if this is problem with samsungs specific model but the only way to work is the follow.
1. connect your pc to another monitor and set the resolution to 1024x768.
2. set the herz to 60mhz.
3. save the settings .
4. connect your samsung monitor with your pc
You must get clear picture. I dont know why it works 1024x768 with 60hz and not at higher resolutions but this is the only way to work the samsung syncmaster 713bm
