Hi when I pull on the trigger it goes full speed it has lost the variable speed any idea as which part it is that needs replacing
I had the same problem with a Bosch sabre saw, variable speed did not work. I could not find a replacement ANYWHERE. With nothing to loose, I disassembled the trigger, taking several photos with my phone as I went to help with reassembly and listing each step as I did them. I found the contacts inside to be oxidized. I wrapped a small piece of sandpaper on to a pencil to reach in to clean the contacts. Reassembled. It works like new. Disassembly can be tricky. Prying with small flat screwdrivers works well, don't force things because you may have missed something somewhere else; wire terminal screws had to be removed, not just loosened. I'll never buy a replacement switch again without first trying to fix it.
The switch will need to be replaced
SOURCE: Drill motor runs at full speed as soon as plugged in
I would have to think that it is more of a switch issue than brushes. If you remove one half of the handle do you see that the switch is burnt? But either way the current has to run thru it and if it runs when plugged in the contacts have welded shut to complete the circuit would be me guess. You can get a switch almost anywhere or go to Makitausa.com and order it direct. Let me know what happens please.
