System recovery I have a problem with my toshiba laptop that i bought a few days ago..its a satellite U305-S5087. I was not supplied with a recovery cd, it came with a recovery partition though from which you can create recovery disks from. Now my problem is whenever I try to create the recovery disks I get an error "No HDD recovery area" The Toshiba disk creator cannot be launched!! Can some one help me out on this as I want to resize my hard drive and create a partition for ubuntu linux.

I have only one partition..that is the C drive. Its 160GB. When I first bought my laptop the recovery disk creator was working..after using my laptop for 2 week its not working. I have not interfered with the drive though..i just installed a number of softwares and thats it. When I try to recover my system by pressing zero key during startup as stipulated in the manual its not working either. NB: after pressing F11 nothing came up.

Yes, I just purchase the Toshiba A200.

When I click on Create Recovery Disk to lauche the application (as describe in User's manual), it's po-up an error message that "no HDD recovery area found". I have double check the system using the computer hard disk management and found the partition is there.

NOTE: the laptop is brand new and just 1 week old. It's run Vista Basic by default.

A friend rang me asking for help with his Toshiba Satellite A210
I found out that after facin virus problems with his laptop, she bought Win Vista DVD to re-install the system. She tried installing it and it just couldn't install the proper device drivers!!
Solution:
A. While the laptop is switched OFF, press 0 on the keyboard and keep it pressed, switch the laptop ON then release the 0 key.
Give it 30 seconds and it will start the HDD recovery wizard.

B. While the laptop is switched OFF, press F8 on the keyboard and keep it pressed, switch the laptop ON then release the F8 key.
Give it like 10 seconds and it will start the Advanced Startup Menu. Select the System Repair, and go ahead with re-installing the factory image.

Good luck guys

try to check the device manager and see if there's a driver problem, you can reinstall the driver or just reconnect the device to your unit.
