The input hole on my hp pavil is too big for my mini-jack from the headphones. general problem one these machines?

In older pc's and laptops the mini-jack fits, as it should, perfectly. on the new hp pavillion the input-hole seems empty. teh sound is given through to the headphones but sometimes it's simultaneously on the laptop speakers. other times, because of the big hole, it's not connecting.

No PC stated. what new Pavillion, must be guess that>
here I will answer for both classes of PC.

my wild guess, not seeing the PC.
you need the 2.5mm to 3.5 mm adapter. tiny to big.
you have the wrong ear phones , that dont fit PCs.
here it is,....
the also so the other way too. 3.5 to 2.5mm

https://www.bgmicro.com/AUD1107.aspx

as PC's get thinner,, the makers must go to the smaller 2.5mm jacks, or they cant do it.

no PC posted, why do that? 1985 to 2018
HP has vast 1000s of PC now. endless list really.

You can try a system restore, ie you can take back your computer to a date when it was working fine .
Running system restore in windows Xp:
Start >All Programs> Accessories >System Tools >System restore

Running system restore in Vista

If the system restore doesnot work , try uinstalling the sound drivers from the add remove programs and install the new ones from the link below

SOURCE: sound is working but internal speaker is not working

Connecting headphones to the system will disabled the internal speakers until the headphone jack is disconnected, at which such time the internal speakers should function again.

If you disconnect the headphones and the internal speakers are not re-activated, then there may be damaged to the microswitch in the jack. (Try rebooting after the headphones are disconnected too)

SOURCE: No audio output to tv on my dell 1545

That, & most, earphone sockets, simply doesn't have enough "Current" or signal voltage to drive your TV set's audio in Amplifier. You need to get a Pre-Amp, to amplify the signal, up to a level that can be used by the TV. So you need to purchase, or build from a kit, a small stereo pre-amp and insert it between your laptop & TV audio In.

My hp desktop do not have a pink slot.. where do i plug my mic.

It may not be color-coded on your machine. Generally, it will look like a headphone jack and is usually placed next to the headphone input. It could be on the front or back.

Can i hook up my PC to my sterio system through the headphone jack on the stereo to the PC HEadphone jack? been trying to get it to work on Auxilary but no sound :( please help

If you are still working on the question you asked about. This is what I would do. One of two things:

First: purchase an adapter that goes from your laptop 3.5 mm headphone jack to the microphone input if there is one.

Second: Would be to purchase what is called a "Cassette Tape Adapter". This will take your 3.5 mm headphone jack and play it through your cassette tape area of your stereo.

I hope one of these is a solution that will help you. -- wicc --

To play laptop thru samsung tv I am attempting to play laptop movie thru tv. I have tried the rca y cable with 3.5 mm plug from headphones of laptop to red and white audio in on the samsung tv., no sound....

So you are connecting the laptop to the TV using VGA port of the TV, right? To get sound in the PC input mode, you need to use the PC audio input jack (green jack, mini 3.5mm jack) not the RED and White RCA audio input, they are for Composite Video AV inputs. That is how I have my laptop and TV setup to watch Netflix.

My S Video from laptop works with TV however no sound on TV

No, S-Video is video only. Look for the Audio output jack on your computer (usually its a lime green earphone hole). you will need a 3.5mm to RCA Stereo output wire, and attach the RCA audio to the AUX input of your TV, and then hook it to the Earphone/Speaker output jack on your computer. Then you will have to set your computer volume at about 75% (not all the way up, but more than halfway up). Then you can adjust the volume on the tv set. (just fyi, if you have bass boosting on the COMPUTER, turn that off, as well as any Equalizer or BASS/TREBEL booster. Set your mixers and boosters to NORMAL for best sound. not doing so could produce popping or scratching in the sound from the TV, also, if you have your PC volume higher than 75% that can also cause popping)

Headphone jack does not work, audio still plays from speakers

sound like the hardware supporting your headphones may have disconnected from its solder. This could have happened from dropping the notebook with the headphones plugged in and landing badly, or a strong or constant tug on the input. Otherwise, it could be a software configuration like you've tried

D510 how can I hook up to my stereo?

The two ports on the laptop are most likely a mic input and a headphone output.
Connect a cable (stereo) from the headphone output to the stereo input of your amp.
