Can you please elaborate / add details ... as to how far you are able to get before it becomes "now working" ? and what is happening ? e.g. can you power it on ? does the navigation application load / start up successfully ? etc.

    Touch screen not working

  • oziszan Dec 09, 2014

    hi.

solution 1 please hold the on/off button for about 15-20 seconds, it should make a hard reset, (when it's connected to the charger)

solution 2: is your charger working fine? try to connect it via micro usb cable to your PC

Usually, the TomTom GPS doesn't start up because the battery is (very) low. Have you tried charging the battery (for a while, while not using it) before trying to start it up again ? You can do it using the car charger, or via the USB port on your computer (or through a power adapter).

Another common reason why the TomTom doesn't power up is because it was not shut down "properly". If you manage to get the battery charged (fully, before starting it up), it should resolve the problem. If not, e.g. the screen freezes after powering up, and doesn't go further ... consider doing a "reset" ... ( use a pin to press the "reset" hole ) ... and it should shut down and boot up again (properly). Make sure you do all this while the battery (fully) charged. [ The device uses the battery for power ... so, if your battery is not fully charged, plugging it into a power source may not help ].

The last possibility ... your battery no longer holds a good charge... even after you've plugged it in for a few hours. Hence, the device has no source of power. You may wish to have the battery replace first.

TomTom One N14644 text to voice - I hooked it up to the tomtom site to update maps and everything is cleared off. The only message on the tomtom is No Maps Found! How to I get my stuff back????

I do some work with TomTom - it's possible that if something interrupted or went wrong during the install, the map could have been deleted. TomTom is aware of the problem and is working to fix it - if you are map-less, call support (866 486 6866) and we can work on getting you a new map.

My tomtom receiver is frozen on the start screen.

Connect your TomTom to the USB cable then turn on your TomTom in that order. Go to "My Computer" and open the drive that is your TomTom. Copy and paste your map folder to the desktop. Delete everything on your TomTom (don't format). After deleting everything on your TomTom. Open TomTom Home. TomTom Home will tell you, you need an application for your TomTom. Let TomTom Home load the application. You will probably have to do this at least 2 times to get the latest application for your device. After TomTom Home has loaded the latest application for your device closer TomTom Home and copy and paste your map back onto your TomTom. You should be ready to go after doing this. Make sure you do not skip a step when doing this.

Formatting a tomtom go 710

Hi, I probably cant answer all of your questions but I might help with some of them. You should be able to access your TomTom 710 without removing TomTom home software from your PC. It should be accesses as a drive through the USB connection in "my computer" on your PC. When a USB device is connected to your PC it appears as an external drive. Therefore you should be able to delete , load onto , or format the TomTom hard drive ( or with some other models the SD card ) as you would a normal drive . ( an example of this is where you might have a camer with SD memory card and relevant manufacturers software on your PC . you might connect your camera to the PC via USB and the camera software on your PC automaticly detects the camera for it to eb accesssed . However , the camera and it's SD card can also be accessed seperatly by going to "MY Compter" and it should also be visible there as an external UDB device / external drive ) . Now .. to another another question . If you do un-install TomTom home , I dont think it will also delete any backup of your TomTom , it will only delete TomTom Home software . ( the word "think" is mentioned because I have never tried this ). Besides that , you can choose in tomtom home , where you want any backups to reside , so you could save backups via TomTom home to a CD for istance. If you did that , then you would have the backup on a CD rather than your harddrive which means you could safely un-install TomTom home knowing that if it also removed any saved backup you would still have the CD with a backup on it. So , to summerise.... If it were me , I would make a backup of the TomTom by simply copying all the files on it by opening the TomTom up as a folder in "MY Computer" , simply drag any files and folders from the TomTom into a folder I have prepaired ( call it for instance "my tomtom backup" ) on my PC . Then I would format the TomTom drive then reinstall the backup and see what happens. If the TomTom still doesnt work properly , I would Format the tomtom again then use TomTom home to obtain all relivant files , then copy only the maps and .MAC files ( these are the authorisation files for the maps ) from my Backup to the TomTom manually ( not from tomtom home ). I would guess that would result in a working TomTom again ... Good luck.

Tomtom 1 stopped talking

Check in preferences > Change Voice to make sure that a voice is selected. If it is, it probably corrupted. Pick a new voice. If none of the other voices work, plug your TomTom into your computer and boot up TomTom HOME and reinstall the voices. If after that they still don't work, contact TomTom support and ask them for advice. They will probably have you send it in for repair on broken speakers.

Please rate, Thank you!
