Video card might be broken. Might be replacable for around $110. If you have demos, clear hardrive and the only game I can get to work is Street Fighter 4. I have to rapidly press start to skip intro. Arcade mode doesn't work. The only way to save is by auto-saving.

Try playing a Demo game, if you dont have any download it from playstation network. The point is just to force the sytem to play games and if you notice, movies and games are listed under a different folder in the icon's list, so playing a demo game will force the system to play the game and you should be able to play your games fine after that,. Thing is that a game's info might've got stuck in freeze mode when the system was shut off unproperly while a game disk was still inside, that's all. Good luck, dont wanna see any PS3 comrades suffering the unspeakable horridness of not been able to play games. Be strong my friend.

when hilighting the "security settings" on a demo model press and hold
L1 + R1 + SELECT + SQUARE
Then enter the correct security code when prompted for it. It depends on what demo firmware is on your machine. To find out what code you need go to Settings > System Settings > System Information and it will show you the firmware version.
1.5x = 5202

NOTE: This has to be done every time you want to use the PS3!!!

From everything I have been able to find, a unit that has demo mode on it, is never supposed to be used for retail consumption. Those modes are only for actual demo models in stores. I reviewed alot of information trying to find this out, but it appears that there is no way around this.
