If it is a frost free freezer check that the door is closing properly and the seals are in good contact when the door is shut. Sometimes, when a door is not shut properly ice will build up, even in a no frost freezer
there could be several reasons the door is closing properly. first see if anything is blocking the way. is the bottom hinge raising and lowering as it opens and closes.
Place thermometers in the freezer and refrigerator. Freezer should be around zero. Refrigerator 36-40. 36 is better. Adjust your cold control (thermostat) to obtain the temperatures. Check your condensing coils. Are they dirty? Check your door gaskets. Are they sealing properly? Check door alignment. Do they shut properly? Good luck.
The GE side by side refrigerator has 2 cams on the bottom hinge that helps shut the door. If the cam wears out then the door will not close properly. One of the cams is riveted to the hinge assembly and an extra cam is shipped with it. The cam assemblies can easily be replaced by using the information on the Partselect.com website that refers to the GE TFX22R refrigerator.
there is some thing wrong whit your door gasket, check your door gasket all around and see if is seal properly, if is broken there is places than custom make fridge gaskets. if by any chance you tuck your doors a part, may be than you dint properly adjust the door or you are missing a shim if so. use some coins to adjust the hinges. buy placing in between the fridge body and the hinge. place a piece of paper on the fridge and close the door it shut hold the paper all the way around the door. Good luck :)
Just a guess, but I would check the gasket on the door. They can go bad or get distorted and bunch up and cause the door to bind and not close properly. Also check that the fridge is leveled properly. Will the door close if pushed? Will it stay closed?
