SOURCE: Microwave runs fine - heats nothing

The most common causes for a lack of heating are a bad door switch, a loose connection on the magnetron, a bad magnetron, bad connection on the control circuit board, a bad relay on the board, bad high voltage diode, or bad high voltage transformer. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk We are the ones who repair the displays and control boards, by the way.

SOURCE: Where is the light bulb in an old Sharp Carousel Microwave?

Microwave_svc's site is awesome! I was able to get all the help I needed for a similar Sharp Carousel microwave. My bulb was simply loose in the socket base causing intermittent bulb lighting. Microwave_svc's helpful links got me to the service manual and, along with a nice set of "tamper-proof" screw compatible TORX bits I bought at HarborFreight, I was easily able to get cover off, remove bulb socket, tighten bulb, re-install bulb socket, button unit back up, and, voila, the light now works without intermittent blinking. FIXYA!!!!

Many thanks to guru microwave_svc!!!!!!!

6 year old Panasonic 1250W High Power Inverter Microwave Oven (Model NN-S954WF) Manufactured May 2004 has completely died. Wondering what might be the problem and is it fixable or should we just get a...

These early inverter microwaves blew their high current power transistors quite regularly. These high current power transistors are quite expensive to replace, and if one blows, there is a likelyhood of others blowing. As the microwave is over 13 years old, I'd suggest getting a new one. Inverter technology in microwaves is now a mature technology, resulting in reasonable prices and much improved reliability.
