Wed 5300 sqo dryer runs but wont heat

Disconnect the power.
Slide the Dryer away from the wall.
Pop up the top
You should see the heater in the back.
Remove the wires connections, and move them to the side
Remove the retianing screws
Pull the heater out.
Put the new heater in and reverse the procedure.

There is a fuse in the dryer for the heat.
Before tearing into the dryer, make sure the power getting to the dryer is absolutely correct. (check power with the dryer running) Even with incorrect power to the dryer. the drum will still turn but there will be no heat.
Many a person has paid for expensive service calls for the problem you are having only to discover by the servicer that there was nothing wrong with the dryer but had bad power to the dryer......

it sounds like your heating element is gone bad. there is no heat if they burn out or get corroded

There is many different things it could be! most of the time it is not the heating element. You have thermal fuses and safety switches. I bet you 10 to 1 if you locate the thermal fuse on the element cannon say 1 foot up from the incoming voltage from the wires to the heating element.

1. either disconnect power to the unit, take continuity on every fuse try the one i suggested first.
2. the same exact fuse im talking about disconnect power and connect both wires together, dont ground it out, plug power back in and then try it.

Check the following to address this non heating issue



1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
