yes you can plug an external monitor to the laptop, the screen switch keyboard toggle is hold down Fn and is should one other the F keys with a monitor icon on it, just press that to activate the external monitor

this one has free shipping and all that fun stuff. 80 USD is better than 100 quid. You can do it yourself with a screwdriver, it takes about 20 minutes

The screen is impossible to repair if its cracked. Getting a new LCD isn't that expensive but only if you know how to replace it. Getting one from manufacturer is around 130. but there is an ebay link on the bottom you can get one for 70 or so with shipping.
