unfortunately, Microsoft and HP have abandoned support for many perfectly functional but apparently outdated hardware. This has always been a problem that basically stems from planned obsolescence, forcing us all to continue buying new hardware. An alternative is to consider switching operating systems to Linux Ubuntu. Easy to use, simple to install and supports many of our outdated hardware. You can download a Live CD image, burn it to a CD and boot up from the CD and test before actually installing... check it out at www.ubuntu.com. Oh.. and its FREE
