I cannot pull out the old lamp from my Sony KDF-E50A1 TV set

3 blinks is indicating that the lamp door cover isnt making contact so the lamp door cover is either attached wrong or the switch is defective.

Some of the ICs on the power supply block are damaged. This can possibly due to high voltage or defective IC. What you can do now is to get a new PS block. If you can get me the part number i can help you find it..

Hello.
You have to get lamp fully assembled for easy replacement. That mean lamp should be purchased already installed in black plastic housing.
If you stand behind of your TV set on the left hand side (actual side) of your TV you will locate lamp door cover with latch on the top of it. Just push the latch down and remove cover. Deeper inside you will locate black plastic lamp door with handle that you have to rotate 1/8 of the turn counter-clockwise to open it up ( like a submarine style thing). Pull it out and next thing that you will discover - lamp assembly itself. Put your index finger inside of the ring-looking latch, pull it up and out. You have lamp removed now. Extremely carefully install new lamp in same order making sure that new lamp is ALL WAY IN (there is safety switch that sense if lamp is not properly in) and install the door making sure it is ALL WAY IN and LOCKED (there is another safety switch that sense it). If any of the switches will not sense proper installation TV WILL NOT turn on.
You can turn TV on to check if it is working. Last thing to do - reinstall lamp door cover.

More info please. I assume you have a new Sony lamp installed? Have you closed the outer door for the lamp? When the set fails to turn on, does the front panel light blink a certain number of times? If so, how many blinks?

Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual,check page-17
Click Sony Support to download free copy of user manual of KDF-60WF655 if required.
There are two thumb screws at lower corners if you see tv from rear, remove these screws and take out lower front panel, in center of that space, you will see lamp cover, remove it and unscrew old lamp, pull it out and put new lamp then put things back in reveres order.
Required lamp of KDF-60WF655 is available in Sony Accessories Store for $200 under part number XL-2200

Replace the Lamp. There is a lamp door you need to open in order to take out the old lamp and put in the new one. This usually takes less than 30 minutes and is made to be user accessible. Check your owner's manual for step by step directions. If you have lost it, you can go to the Sony website to download one for free.

Lamp replacement is not difficult in Sony KDF-E60A20 TV and procedure is written in user manual.
Unscrew two thumb screws at lower corner at back of TV and take off lower front panel, in approx center of lower front of TV, lamp cover is located, unscrew it, remove it and lamp is there, unscrew lamp with hex key (supplied in new lamp box) and take out old lamp, put new lamp and put things back in reverse order.

If the lamp is new it could be the ballast the one is supply high voltage for the lamp you can order that ballast from Sony
Check the lamp if is not damage any where

I just brought my kf-42we610 sony authorized service-tv went black would not turn on-I was infromed Sony knows about problem with the fan in back -gets way to hot and basically melts everything-they are fixing free of charge until march of 09
