The hard drive must still be working to get the pictures off. The best thing to do is remove the hard drive from the machine and use either an external USB type case to mount the drive into so you can use another computer to explore the drive or there is a tool that just plugs on to the drive with a USB cable and power supply built in that will serve the same purpose. You must get the appropriate type to match the drive type which could be either IDE or SATA. SATA drives use the small cable and IDE use the wide ribbon. If the hard drive is not working, you would have to get specialized and expensive company to retrieve the data from the drive.

Im using a usb type headphone/microphone and the laptop model emachines d725 cannot detect the headphone that i inserted, can you help me,need it badly

NO OS told, at all, we can not guess OS.
came with windows 7 , is it still? if upgraded ports die.
GL40 chip set is frozen at w7 max. forever.
2006 CPU , is not supported above w7 as Intel stated. endless.

is it windows type winver in run box or control panel + system.
do all usb ports work with a usb mouse , or keyboard or USB thumb driver? if not the USB ports are dead.

if buying usb head phone ask them for w7 support, as many ended that now.
if not running w7, (not told) then your ports are dead. or the phones do not support the unstated OS.
see how hard I worked top answer , lacking NO OS told?

drivers must match the OS and be available .

I am wondering where the firewire connection is on my Emachine T2698?

I've researched this model and in all the reviews and emachine manual, and product information, does NOT suggest that the system has a firewire port on the system. I may be incorrect in my findings, but if you do have a firewire port, it is shaped similar to a usb port only the one side has a arched design. and some are that of a reverse mini usb configuration. this picture will show both. if you do have a firewire port available on your pc , this image will direct you to it by a visual recognition. hope this was helpfull. billfox1966.png

Usb ports not picking up memory stick

Is it just Memory Stick, or everything that you plug into USB?
Try following:
  1. plug in other USB device into ports
  2. if it does not detect any USB device on any port on your computer
  3. if both front and back USB do not work it may be taht USB is turned off in BIOS, or USB driver is corupted
  4. If you have front USBs and they just do not work there is wire connecting them to the motherboard since it may be loose, if connection is OK than they are dead.
  5. If just back USB do not work than they are dead>

Flashing power button - no keyboard nor mouse. But PC works... ??

Yes, it may be that the +5v supply from the PSU is faulty, as the PS/2 ports run on 5v and USB runs on 9-12v. Replace the PSU with another of the same form factor and same power rating or better (>=230W). They come at ~£30, so not too expensive. For a little more. Try this:
