Bob,
I just bought one of these saws 2 weeks ago (1997 Model) I have it completely disassembled as of right now. There is a worm gear that drives a very large set of teeth attached to the trunion. Mine were completely clogged and full of crud that the mechanisim would barely turn. I am thinking the teeth on the worm gear or trunion at the 90 degree end need to be cleaned to allow it to hit its full range of motion, Its also possible the teeth on one of these pieces is cracked or broken. I would try cleaning them. If you cant get to them, the cast iron top comes off fairly easily. # bolts hold the right wing to the main top and 3 bolts hold the main top to the cabinet. Of course if you have rails, these need to come off first. I have attached images of the before and after of cleaning these parts so you can see if they are really bad like mine, it could be your problem, Hope this helps Align blade - de3088fd-0aec-4075-8706-9fa0612a5ce0.jpg

Can this saw be adjusted if it cuts out of square? And if so, how.

Hello, yes this saw can be adjusted.
To calibrate the table, use a framing square up against the rear fence and see how the blade tracks. To adjust this: loosen the bolts holding the rear fence down and move the fence until it is square with the blade track and tighten.
To adjust the bevel: use a speed square to check for 90deg and 45deg on the blade. Using the 13mm bolts found at the pivot point on the trunnion you can adjust the 90 and 45 degree angles.

I have a 1998 Holden Astra eng noEL20B24119 and want to know the Head bolt torque settings and sequence. The engine is the transition model with twin tappet cover seals. has the torx star headed bolts.

I cannot find a EL20B in my data, but all Astra listed had the same head sequence as shown:

10 6 2 3 7

9 5 1 4 8

the torque specs for the C20XE,C20NE,X20XEV were all
25nm(18lb/ft),-then 90 deg,-90deg,-90deg.
Z20LET were as above plus an additional 15deg.
Same data for smaller and larger engines(except a couple that were 45deg instead of 15)
Make sure that you replace the head bolts with new, they are torque to yield bolts that are designed to stretch to 'plastic' state, and should not be reused.
Put grease(graphite if you have it) under bolt heads and washers, oil the threads.
Usually the head sets come with the torque specs.
I hope this helps you.

How do you change out water filter?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Press in hard.. rotate it 90 degrees Counter clockwise and wiggle / pull it out. When you re-install a new filter align the filter with the internal locking tabs and press in hard and rotate 90 degrees clockwise.

Some times the filter can br really fussy to remove you just have to keep wiggling and pulling to get it out of the recepticle once you have rotated it 90 Deg CCW.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

When I try to cut a 45 it seems to be cutting a little more than a 45. how do I adjust it?

Make sure the blade is 90 deg vertical to the saw table. Make sure the indicator is set approprately. Raise the blade just enough to clear the table/base. Place a swanson speed square against the fence and blade. Make sure the indicator is at 90 degrees. Here you might want to tilt the square and check that the complete blade is flush against the sqaure as high up as possible. Lay the square back flat on the table and pull the blade toward you as much as possible. The teeth on the blade should ride against the square extented completely out.

Now set the square against the fence with the 45 degree angle coming away from the table and set the blade on the 45 deg mark on the insicator scale.
The blade should touch the square all the way out fully extented.

Or just experiment with some scrap and check

Well on a one piece shaft they are 90Deg so I would guess 90Deg on a two piece. If they are facing the same way it would be like turning a jump rope. All weight swings to the same side at the same time, rather than being off set.I usualy have it balanced at the same time as I replace the U-Joints.Well just my two cents.Hope it helps and good luck.

My hotpoint aqualtis washing machine has started to smell following a wash cycle of domestic cleaning cloths. It completes a normal cycle. I have also checked the filter at the front and it is clear. Any...

Hi

Every 30 days is a good idea to use the 90deg wash cycle with just a towel in it with no detergents or use the descaling products available in the market with the 90 Deg hotwash. This problem also happens when always cold wash is used as detergent only really disolve well when the temp is 26 deg c or more.

There could also be mould in the machine which can be found round the bellow seals. IF it is present normally like dark spots and minor then they can be cleaned with methyl alcohol but if it is too many then the seal needs to be replaced. ALso after a wash wipe down the bellow seal with a dry cloth and keep the door slightly open for the internals to vent and dry.

Hope this helps.

12" craftsman table saw 0 to 45 deg adjustment gears striped

Sears has a site for parts and owner manuals at www.ManageMyHome.com.
It could be something is just loose and out of adjustment so that the teeth were able to slip on the gear. But I've never had a look at one of those to say for sure...oil always helps these things move easier...
