SOURCE: lighting pilot of GE gas stove

According to the model number you supplied it looks like your oven use a glow bar ignitor not a pilot light. In that case there is no place to hold a fire. what happens with these when you turn the oven on 120 volts goes to the ignitor causing it to heat up ,the amp draw across the ignitor causes the gas safety valve to open, and then lights the gas. So if you turn your oven on you should see a bright red glow if not probably the the ignitor, to check it you would have to verify you actually have power going to it. If the ignitor glows but the gas valve does not open you will still need to replace the ignitor has to pull about 3.2 amps across ignitor to open safety valve. Your broil burner works the same way. And most of the ovens the floor of the oven comes out to allow easier acess to the ignitor. also if you have to change the ignitor put just a dab of dish detergent on the screws to help from stripping them

SOURCE: I need to change my oven ignitor and I need a diagram

Here's a diagram of the oven along with the Oven Ignitor (Part #19 on the diagram) and the Broiler Ignitor, (Part #26 on the diagram). They are located behind the gas deflectors located at the top and bottom inside the oven compartment, accessible from inside the oven, but you'll need to remove the rear panel at the outside back of the stove to disconnect the terminals tha supply voltage to the ignitors.

Be sure to turn the breaker off and/or unplug the range from the 220V-AC outlet first.

Gas oven doesn't get hot enough

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire oven will not heat to temperature if you set it to 350 degrees. I see that you have to set it to 450 degrees for it to heat up, and then turn it back down to the desired temperature. Please try resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power, set the clock and try setting the temperature to 350 degrees. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Is it dangerest when your oven beeps f2

Typically an oven beeps when the interior temperature macthes the temperature where you set the dial. This is an audible signal to that fact and particularly helpful when you need to pre-heat the oven. For example it you want to cook something at 350 degrees, you set the dial at 350. When your oven reaches that temperature it beeps to let you know. Some cooking directions tell you to preheat your oven. In that case, when you set the dial to 350 and wait for the beep...you know you are safe to start your cooking process because the oven is now pre-heated to the temperature you set. If your recipe requires a pre-heated oven, and you don't wait for the beep, your taking a guess at what temperature you're cooking your food. Additionally, if you want to know what the internal temperature of oven is and your oven is heated...you simply turn you dial setting and listen for the beep. Again, if you set your oven at 350 and you want to know how hot your oven is... slowly turn the dial setting. If the oven beeps at 275 then that's how hot your oven has gotten. To let it finish heating to 350 just reset the dial and wait for the beep.

On my frigidaire 30 self cleaning stove i set the temp at say 350 deg and it will start but will only heat to 280 max no matter what it is set to is there fuses to look at

There is a chance that either the thermostat probe is faulty,if you have an ohm meter the probe should measure about 500 ohms at room temp.if the ohms are good then you will need to replace the electronic contol board

My whirlpool gas stove oven quit working after my wife finished cooking the turkey. the bake setting does not get hot after setting the oven for baking., the pre-heat comes on but it does'nt get hot...

The oven temperature control is usually controlled by a thermostat that uses a capillary and liquid filled bulb. When the bulb's liquid gets heated up, it expands and puts pressure on a diaphragm which opens and closes a switch that controls the gas to the burner. Just set the dial to what you need the temperature to be. Over time, it is possible for your thermostat to lose its calibration. Sometimes, the thermostat sensing bulb comes loose from the holder. If it is out of place, the thermostat may be getting faulty readings. If this is the problem, re-aligning the bulb properly will take care of this problem.

Digital display models use a sensor to control temperature. If this is faulty, replace it. Other ovens use a mechanical system to control the temperature.

On many models, you can adjust your oven thermostat using a small screwdriver. The adjusting screw is located on the thermostat valve stem. Remove the knob and you'll see the screw underneath it. You want to turn the oven on and run it through at least two cycles while watching a calibrating thermometer in the oven for high and low temperatures. Adjust the screw as necessary to fine tune the temperature.

Some models don't have an adjustable thermostat, and you will have to replace the thermostat if you want to resolve the problem.
The oven sensor: works with the oven control board to regulate the oven temperature. If there is an oven temperature problem, this sensor might be defective. The sensor can be tested by using an ohm meter. As temperature rises, the resistance measurement also rises. The manufacturer of the oven sensor determines the correct resistance, Oven temperature problems can be caused by other things, but this is one of the common causes.
Beware on some models now most of these ovens they are electronic and they are integrated into the control itself
some different sensor ohm readings at room temp. approx 16 ohms at room temperature and at 350?F it is 29~33 ohms.

I have a frigidaire stove that heats to 50 degrees hotter than the know setting. Can it be adjusted to read correctly?

There is a calibration method to adjust the oven thermostat plus/minus 35 degrees if it is a digital display. The method varies depending on the model range. This calibration method is used to adjust the thermostat if it is not keeping proper tempature. For example if you are setting the oven to 350 and the actual temp it is keeping is 325 then you could use the calibration method to adjust it plus 25 degrees to correct the temp. Just so you know electric ovens will keep a pretty even temp but gas ovens will vary by 40 or more degrees to keep an "average" temp. For example the burner will come on when the oven is 330 degrees and turn off at 370. 330+370 then divide by 2=350. So a oven thermometer may not show you the temp you set it at in a gas oven but does not mean the oven temp is off.

Hello when i put my temp for my gas stove on say 350, the pilot is glowing but it doesnt seem to flame/heat up, and i get a somewhat odor of gas, could the therometer need replacing or maybe the ignition...

Your glowbar ignitor part must be replaced, Unplug the range and turn off the gas. Remove yje oven racks, The oven base pan. Then remove the flame spreader. You will see the glowbar ignitor attached to the side of the bake burner. Remove it and replace it with a new ignitor. Replace all the range parts.Turn on the power and turn on the gas supply.

Copy and paste this site for the location of the ignitor you can also purchase the part from them.

WHY WON'T MY OVEN HEAT UP?

Most modern gas ovens and many broilers use a "glow-bar" style of igniter that glows red-hot to ignite the gas. If the igniter doesn't reach the proper temperature, the gas valve won't open. You may need to replace the igniter.

Fridgidaire stove/ove

I have a Frigidaire electric oven model # PLES389ECE. It is two years old. It has maybe 50hrs of use. I had the oven blower motor go out. Then I had a circuit board malfunction.  The repairman discovered that one of the main terminal connections was loose and caused the terminal block to short. Could this have been the problem all along? Also, we are having a problem with the oven coming up to temp. According to the operating manual, set oven temp. lets say for example  350 degrees. Once the oven is preheated to 350 a beep sounds. With my oven the oven is about 60 degrees to low. You have to wait about 10 more minutes. Is this normal with this model? Has anyone else had problems with this model? I also heard that Frigidaire made a bad batch of ranges. Could this be one of them?
Thanks, Vincent
