Removing the platter to oil the motor shaft

I have a technics SL-QD33 I just broke out after sitting for a while and noticed it said to lube the motor shaft. The drawing suggest the platter is removed, I have removed the platter mat and the diagram sems to suggest you just lift the platter free w/o having to remove any screws or other assembly. The platter seems very attached when I gently tug on it. Any ideas on how to remove the platter?

PULLon it harder!!!! Its a *****! It will come up and off! Also do it evenly when you pull...there is a magnet under the platter. Dont break it! PULL evenly!

No do not use a hammer. There is a large diameter magnet under the platter that drives the direct drive unit...If you break or crack it you will have to buy a new platter.. Pull it off ( like it states from Technics ) with both hands at the same time. Ive repaired them countless times.

Tehnics sl-bd22 noisy motor what to do?

If the bearing is worn to the point of a rattle and a small amount of silicone oil won't stop it, then it should be replaced or the motor replaced. These bearings are normally lifetime impregnated with lubricants and can sometimes dry out with use and somewhat seize up causing what may sound like a rattle. If the motor shaft has worn down enough at the bearing point, then a rebuild or replacement is in order.

Why douen't my technics turntable spin?

Take off the rubber mat and see if the belt is off the aluminum platter the record sits on you should be able to see the rubber belt when the mat is removed. If it is not there or broke it will need replaced.

How do you install the belt in a Technics LP SL-B300

assuming that you have the correct size belt, remove the platter and place the belt onto the platter (bottom side). Replace the platter and using a pencil, grab the belt and place it around the motor hub. The slot in the platter should give you enough room to do this. Dan

Changing the belt on a Technics SL-3 (Linear tracking) turntable

Instructions on installation of your drive belt - this also applies to other brands as well - however this belt is only for the Technics models listed above:
  1. Remove the turntable platter off from the turntable
  2. Remove the old/damage belt
  3. Wrap the new belt underneath the turntable platter - you will see a small lip on the bottom of the platter. Wrap the belt around this lip.
  4. Put the platter back on the turntable
  5. The turntable platter will have small holes, rotate the platter until you see the motor, and the motor shaft.
  6. Pinch the belt, so that it wraps around the motor shaft
  7. Turn on and enjoy!

I need to put new turntable belt on a Technics SL-B200

The belt goes underneath the turntable platter. First you attach to the lip on the bottom of the turntable platter, then you put the platter on the turntable. You'll see some holes on the platter, after you put it on, just rotate the platter, until you see the motor shaft, then pinch the belt around the motor shaft.

How do i put my belt back on a technics dc servo automatic turntable system SL-B210 i havnt used it for a while so when i got it out to use the belt was lose uder the thing the disc gose on

Remove the platter, then take the belt, and wrap it to the bottom lip of the platter. You'll see an inner lip underneath the platter... this is where the belt goes.

Next, put the platter back on, and you'll see 2 holes on alternate sides of the platter. Rotate the platter until the brass shaft of the motor is exposed - usually @ the 11 o'clock position. Pinch the belt and pull it out, to wrap around the shaft.

That's it.

Good luck!

My drive belt on my optimum turn table has come of how do i put it back on?

Hi mcmassous
Refitting the belt is easy.
1.) Remove rubber pad/mat.
2.) Remove platter just beneath mat. Some platters are "press fit" onto the center shaft and seemingly can't be removed, the trick is to lift up on the platter while simultaneously lightly tapping on the top of the shaft with the handle of a screwdriver. While others may have a "E" clip at the base of the center shaft which must be removed with the a screwdriver, with care that it doesn't fly away before the platter can be removed.
3.) Use rubbing Alcohol soaked cloth to clean outside of large 'lip' or ledge underneath platter and the (usually) brass pulley shaft on platter drive motor which should now be visible.
4.) Install belt around the ledge underneath platter. Belt should be somewhat snug without falling off.
If the belt just falls of the rim of the platter, then it is failing and needs to ne replaced.
5.) Optional: Clean then Lube main center platter shaft of turntable with 3-in-1 oil or similar.
6.) Re-install platter.
7.) look thru 'access window' in platter and rotate platter until platter motor becomes visible.
8.) Stretch belt from platter ledge over to far side of motor pulley.
9.) Re-install mat and start player.
