Can't un-protect Images in My Canon Rebel XS

Use the menu to unprotect the image then you can delete. Also you can format the card but that will remove all the images on the card so make sure you've saved it elsewhere.

you need a class 4 sd card. i had a class 6 8gb card with this problem. took 200 pics on holiday, only the first 10 worked, the rest say cannot play image.. look at www.kingston.com to find compatible card.

Try formatting the card in the EOS rebel.

If that doesn't do it, try a different card and see what happens.

Use a separate card reader to download your pics. Then, you can format the card in the camera to get it to work properly.

If this is an old card, it may be corrupted. Try a new one. Be sure to format the new one in the camera before using it.

If the image has a small icon of a skeleton key along the bottom when viewing it, it means the image has been protected. You have to un-protect the image to erase it. This is done from the Playback Menu (the one with the arrow on the tab). Specific instructions are on page 115 in the manual. (Manual is available here if you don't have it.)
