Cannot download video, only Card pictures

Computer(s) will not find ZR70mc Device, except in the Card Mode, preventing me from downloading video. I have tried S cable, IEEE 1394. Does it only work with DV cable? My IMAC will not recognize my ZR70 camera to download home video. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am connected to the camera with a new 800 firewire as recommended but no connection. Bh

I do not know MACs, but a standard 4-pin to 6-pin firewire (IEEE1394) is needed. On Windows XP, plug it in, run Windows Movemaker and you are good to go. By the way, a "DV cable" is a firewire cable.

If your MAC cannot "see" your camcorder, try another firewire device to see if your MAC is the culprit, or drag your camcorder and firewire cable to a friend's PC running Windows XP and see if it works.

If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. I have a Kodak EasyShare Z981 camera. It says my internal memory is full. What do I do?

You have to transfer the pictures and videos in the internal memory to your computer. For this you have to download and install Kodak software on your computer.

( Make sure the computer is connected to the Internet. When you connect the camera to the computer, the KODAK Software Downloader automatically runs. Follow the prompts to download and install KODAK Software.)

Please follow the steps below to connect your camera to your computer;
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Use the KODAK Camera USB Cable, U-8 to connect camera to computer. (Use only the cable included with this camera!)
3. Turn on the camera.
After the software is installed, follow the prompts to transfer pictures and videos to your computer.

* If the downloader does not run, find and launch it:
• WINDOWS OS: in My Computer
• MAC OS: on your Desktop

Note: You can use the Memory card to save the pictures and videos taken on your camera. In this case you can also use a card reader to transfer your pictures/videos.This prevents the user from connecting the camera every time to transfer data.Eject the memory card and insert it into the card reader.

Please feel free to ask your doubts. Thanks for choosing Fixya.Your valuable feedback would be appreciated.

How do you put video from your camcorder to your computer?

With a Canon ZR70MC camcorder, you can record video onto miniDV tape, or onto the SDmemory card in Card Camera mode.

To access video on the miniDV tape, you will use the DV cable (IEEE 1394 aka FireWire). Connecting this cable to your windows computer will allow you to transfer high quality video using the software supplied on the digital video solutions disc, or just about any other windows video editing software.

To access videos stored on the SD memory card, remove the card and place it in a card reader connected to your computer, or attach a usb cord to the camera and the computer. Video stored on the memory card is limited to 10 second clips @ 320x240 resolution.

Try a different firewire cable, and check to make sure the connection is not loose. Sometimes pins get bent in the camera where the connection is made. Check it out. They can be bent back gently.
