DC24 loss of suction when upright

Hi When trying to use my DC24 as an upright it will not pick up the dirt. Instead as I insert the wand back into place, it triggers a suction to the hole thats located on the right hand side of the top filter (this hole is part of the design btw). All filters have been cleaned, and pipes have been checked for blockages. Have had this hoover less than 2 years. Many Thanks Claire

    Hi Sharon,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual through the wand, this may be due to a blockage in the wand, hose or U-bend. The easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

    http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc14/dc14-origin-iron/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

Although I note you've cleaned the filter, you might want to check you've washed it as shown in the video below - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Wash both parts of the filter in cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry before replacing it.

This should resolve your issue, but for any further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can help.

    Best wishes,

Very low suction. hardly picking up dirt . cleaned rollers and all openings.

There could be an obstruction somewhere. Start from the brush bar and work your way back trying to determine where it is.

Loss of suction in the hose

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC24 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be through the hose, it's likely you have a blockage somewhere in the wand, hose or airway. Our online Support guide should help you resolve this with some simple troubleshooting checks:

    http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24new/dc24-multi-floor/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/how-to-remove-a-blockage-wand-and-hosedc24

DC24 has two lifetime filters which should be washed at least once a month. Use cold water without detergent, and allow both filters to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing them:

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like further advice after giving these steps a try please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

    Loss of suction in hose

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC24. If there doesn't seem to be as much suction as usual through the hose, there may be a blockage in the wand or hose. You may also need to give the filters a wash.

To locate and remove any blockages in your machine, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

    http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use, the filters need to be washed at least once a month, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry somewhere warm before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

What is causing weak suction on my new Dyson DC24 animal vacuumed?

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most of the time the reason why the vacuum is not picking up is due to loss of suction. You may need to check for blockages of your wand and hose. Remove the wand and hose from your cleaner when checking for blockages and any damages. Make sure to turn off and unplug your vacuum from the power before doing this. Please refer to this troubleshooting guide for more information on how you can remove blockages:
