Compaq Presario V4000 NOT connecting to a wireless network

What wireless adapter do you have ? Broadcom, Atheros, etc ? I also had some trouble installing Broadcom on my Compaq nx6325 on Ubuntu but Ubuntu has some good support sites... Here is an example for Mint for Broadcom drivers ...

When you connect it to wireless make sure you go into control panel / network view your connection right click on local area network connection choose disable then connect to your wireless connection. Right click your wireless icon by your clock choose connect to wireless network or view available local wireless connection.

Hp's website should have the drivers you need. Just go to the support and download's page and type in the laptops model and it should then ask you for the type of OS you are using. And bingo a list of all the drivers.

Please run system restore to factory setting. that seem to be the only saviour.

If you're running a wireless network, make sure all computers on the network use the same network name, for instance "My network" Home Network etc. one can't say "MS HOME" and the computer you're using say "My Network"

i use compaq presario v2388TU, ican't detect wireless adapter.

What OS are you running on the system?

After installing your OS install Ethernet adapter.

It's setup comes along with the motherboard cd that is given to u ...when u bought ur laptop.
